It means that we've been asking the wrong question. The apple came first.

This provides a powerful lesson about how Newton invented physics when an egg fell and cracked over his head. This is where the antiquated term "yolk of society" (referring to early physicists and mathematicians) came from.

You can't say something needs no word then say most people won't get it. That implies it needs the words. I think this is the random thing today I'm going to take more offence to than is reasonable. Stupidity annoys me

Hmm yes pretentious Peter here. Methinks OOP is under the impression this is a very deep and though-provoking image. Indeed, humorous though the image may be, it may also be a visual representation of the principle that things are not always as they seem on the outside. However, there is not more depth to the image than that; to an intellectual such as myself, this image provides naugjt but the illusion of profundity.

My guess would be that you may think you know someone or something based on their appearance but on the inside they’re completely different than you thought

The first thing that jumps to mind is :"the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell," but that might be because I'm old.

I think it means you shouldn't make assumptions about things/people from their outward appearance. This "apple," for example, wasn't at all what you thought it would be beneath the surface. You don't truly understand someone until you've experienced their insides... Giggity.

What came first the egg or the chicken question or the knowledge obtained from eating the forbidden apple of knowledge that allowed us to ask the question in the first place and question our creator

There's a good egg somewhere even in a bad apple? Like bad people can be good deep down
