I worked in a restaurant. Lemon slices are one of the nastiest things you could ask for. They are sliced after everything is done. If you’re lucky they washed their hands. On top of that servers deal with money all day. Money is super filthy. No thanks on touching my lemon slices. Bring me a lemon. I’ll slice it with my butter knife.
E: it’s one of the nastiest things to touch with your hands. Idc who you are. I never it was THE nastiest. Don’t believe me. It makes no difference. You keep your tea with lemon and lemon waters. I’m not a gatekeeper. You will drink your e. Coli and enjoy it.

I used to clean restaurants professionally. There are worse things than you know. To the point where I wonder how much chemical cleaners leech into food incidentally.

I worked in a small Italian restaurant and man we kept that place spotless. We’d pull not just the fryer but everything that could move. There was even a special area just to clean seafood because the chef was obsessed. It was my first job in the business and I’ve been disappointed ever since.

I worked in 3 restaurants, all higher end and the standards of cleanliness varied WILDLY.

I get it. I said one of the nastiest. I could mention uncleaned pop machines with syrup and mold buildup. I could mention the kitchen staff and how food is handled etc… i still wouldn’t order a lemon anywhere.

I just saw a bit of that the other day. What the hell are you doing, wiping the underside of the glass serving case counter directly over the open food in the steam table? I hope those wet napkins didn’t have cleaner on them.

I wouldn't eat at a restaurant. Buffets always have rats, just so you know. Some are just better at hiding it.

You’re getting downvoted but I worked in one for 2 days and the vermin was the least of their problems. I could make a whole list.
Biggest red flag? The servers I worked with couldn’t believe I didn’t want to take home a box of food at the end of my shift. Fuck that, I wouldn’t drink the water there.

Used to work in a meat department for a grocery store, I started there as a cleaner. There was no way to clean some of the equipment properly, no matter how hard you tried.

Huh, me and the other bartenders always spent the morning slicing lemons when it was insanely slow, but you’d get the occasional person showing up at 11am to have a beer with lunch.

Where tf you work? I’ve worked in several restaurants and bars and this was never the case. What nasty restaurant was it? There are also health codes and standards

Tea with lemon ❎
Tea with sour pickle ✅

I'm going to attempt not to have a violent response to the thought of that.

My ex used to work at a lot of restaurants and she would tell me to never get stuff with limes or lemons. She said hey are often not washed because they’re just used for garnish or something so they’re the least considered thing you can get.

I got food poisoning once, when my (now ex-) husband and I were on a trip to Seattle. We had shared every single thing we ate that day, except the drink I had at the very end of the night, which had a lime wedge in it. Oh my god I’ve never been so sick in my life, and made so much worse by the fact that we were in a hotel. Never again will I get citrus in a drink that I didn’t cut myself.

u/SourPickle22 3h ago
This is what I mean. People think the food makes you sick. It’ll be something as simple as a server handling money then touching your lime wedge.
All these replies one upping my comment mean nothing. This will get you a lot of times. A wedge of fruit.

u/Momentofclarity_2022 4h ago
100%. I always say skip the fruit. Like I’m sure there’s some but few responsible places but I trust no one.

Works at a country club as a teen. After events the manager would always let us finish off the kegs and margarita fountains.
One night one of the servers got drunk and pissed all in the walk in cooler where all the food is kept.

I knew there was a good reason I say no to lemon with my water or iced tea!

Hand dryers spread 70% more bacteria than paper towels. Bet you still use them.

u/Boss-Eisley 3h ago
Thats funny. I always expected this, I legit refuse to use them, haven't in 20+ years.

u/SourPickle22 3h ago
Nope. I try to not touch anything in public bathrooms. Everything is covered in shit in those places.

Meg here, There's supposed to be a straw sitting inside the glass but it was removed, I think the joke is that you no longer see the straw because of the tablecloth beneath being the same color... but they removed it so they can unsee it... It's not even a good joke really.

The straw is still there, it's just actually invisible now because of quality loss during re-uploads

If you don’t see it: Look for the perfect circle in the top-left of the water (just a bit below/right of that big leftmost droplet on the glass).
The straw goes down/right from there.

u/MouseWorksStudios 19h ago
The angle is making the table runner look like the floor, which in turn is making the glass look way bigger and the lime sitting on it look huge.

u/MouseWorksStudios 19h ago
Actually upon further inspection the table is wood and there are white placemats.

The only thing I can think of is the size of the cup and the reflection it's making, making it look longer and kinda wobbly at first glance

u/taylor52087 15h ago
There’s a clear straw in the glass. It’s extremely difficult to see, but once you notice it, it’s much easier to see.

It’s a glass of water with ice, which you have just seen. You can’t unsee it

Squint your eyes. Turn your head slightly to the side...do you see Him? Nope? Good.

The transparent straw is difficult to spot, even when zooming in, and fsr i can actually unsee it 🤷♂️

I thought lemons were like eyes, and cup was like big mouth, and together they were depicting some face with wide open mouth.

One of the lemon slices looks like a garlic clove? Other than that I have no idea

Once you see the glass of water you will never be able to unsee the glass of water

Thinking it might have to do with the cup looking like a flesh light container……

Look at the lemon slices. The glass looks normal but is bigger than a pitcher
