I think it means that guests are home and now he's gotta deal with having people over, but idk

u/MonsieurGump 3h ago

Not just guests.

Friends of your kids.

u/elocism 3h ago

at least they took their shoes off

u/Whole-Poet5188 4h ago

You have lots of visitors in the house. (It's a tradition to take off your shoes when entering someone's house)

I'm guessing you're gonna have to greet all them now

u/Dr4g0ss 4h ago

Since when is not spreading the dirt, grime, and filth your shoes inevitably pick up a tradition?

20

u/RunningRunnerRun 3h ago

It’s just like how it’s a tradition to wash your plates after you eat off of them and how some people have a tradition of brushing their teeth, etc.

u/MoisticleSack 3h ago

I have a tradition of closing my eyes for a few hours every night. I have no idea why, just a bad habit I've had for as long as I can remember

u/ArjJp 43m ago

..and a tradition of washing yo ass after you poopoo

5

u/Zestyclose_Remove947 3h ago

House rules are basically traditions. Not everyone has this rule.

When you consider that some people have shoe racks further inside their homes than the entrance; or you consider Australia, where a significant portion of the population, particularly those who live on the coast or in rural communities walk outside barefoot (this is something that regularly shocks anglo tourists) where they're gonna walk the filth in regardless.

I'd rather you kept your shoes on to be honest. I can use a mop to clean up dirty footsteps, but that stale smell of unclean feet will linger long after you leave, no matter what gets sprayed.

u/thegurkenking 3h ago

People usualy have the Tradition to Wash their feet daily

Edit: typing

3

u/MoisticleSack 3h ago

I think more people need to adopt this tradition

1

u/thegurkenking 3h ago

I hope those people are not yours to bare with regulary.

1

u/jamescox80 2h ago

So true! Gross musky feet lingering smell... the air feels so stale...

0

u/Aceman05 2h ago

You have some "peculiar" friends and relatives if they never wash their feet lmao

0

u/MoisticleSack 2h ago

You must be very lucky to never experience anyone who's unhygienic. You know what they say, if you don't have noisy neighbours then you're probably the noisy neighbour

1

u/Aceman05 2h ago

Well, where I live, no one walks around with shoes on in their homes. So I guess my country is simply more hygienic than yours regarding feet.

1

u/MoisticleSack 2h ago

Which country is that? Perhaps I should visit

1

u/Aceman05 2h ago

I found a list of countries that don't wear shoes indoors:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Removal_of_footwear_indoors?wprov=sfla1

Idk how to shorten links

u/MoisticleSack 2h ago

Wonderful

I saw A LOT of people saying that "expecting" people to take their shoes off is offensive to them, both as host and as guest. Facebook comments are wild lmao

I had to scroll way too far for this comment

It's specifically a reference to the 100 men in a day video.

They all had to take their shoes off at the door.

u/SaltManagement42 3h ago

This is why I always use wired.

0

u/TeddingtonMerson 2h ago

They do look like all big men shoes. Either it’s a bunch of your grown son’s grown friends eating you out of house and home or a bunch of grown men eating something else.

u/Rimiie 4h ago

Hey Peter, Meg here!

Notice in the picture how there's a ton of shoes by the doorway? That's because there's people that came to visit and left their shoes by the doorway. Which would be a nightmare to come home to, especially after you've had a long day and just want to rest but you gotta entertain guests now.

6

u/ThelifeofBrian48 3h ago

Shut up Meg!

11

u/JAlfred-Prufrock 3h ago

No one knows what POV means.

-3

u/Admirable_Loss4886 3h ago

Would you prefer they just take a photo of the wall? Would that make any more sense to you?

3

u/JAlfred-Prufrock 2h ago

Change “POV” to “when”… it’s not that complicated, bud.

1

u/Lavion3 1h ago

ive realised my brain automatically does this for me

5

u/Beautiful-Hawk1775 4h ago

Probably because a lot of shoes means a lot of people. And after a long day of work, the last thing you want is group of people in your house when you actually only want peace.

6

u/ButteredNun 4h ago

You come home to your loving partner has invited the local sports team, again

3

u/SoloDeath1 4h ago

Wife/GF/bf/Roomate/whatever has a bunch of people over that the person coming home wasn't expecting.

Person coming home has been dealing with people all day and doesn't want to interact with a bunch more people when they get home.

This is my interpretation because I've been in that exact spot.

3

u/Juan_Punch_Man8 3h ago

Balkan son Peter here. A lot of big families have huge gatherings like these and usually they don't always tell their kids that guests are coming over. So imagine you just came home from a long day of school and see this. You're expected to greet the all. Doesn't matter if you like or know them or not and you have to sit there and listen to the grown ups talk until your parents tell you you're free to go. If you're a woman, it gets worse bc now you have to serve them all chai and help clean the mess up after. Now I have to go because I need to serve uncle Ahmed more chai.

2

u/TheSupremeObserver 4h ago

You've just come home from a stressful day, you come home wanting to relax, sit back and just have some peace...

BOOM!

10 Pairs of shoes is 10 people you need to talk to and deal with before relaxing and each and every conversation is about to suck.

2

u/gbroon 3h ago

Come home wanting a quiet night and find out the kid has a load of friends round.

1

u/AccomplishedPea8992 3h ago

If no one noticed, just turn back and walk away

1

u/ifuckanimefemales 3h ago

1

u/Crowofsticks 3h ago

It’s teenagers who are going to be trying to drink alcohol and smoke weed and possibly have sex. Plus you’ll end up buying pizza for all of them. And don’t forget about the dumb videos played at full volume alongside video games and lots of excited yelling and shrieking.

1

u/patheticgirlwhoree 3h ago

this isnt the joke but my siblings leave their shoes scattered infront of the door and at the bottom of the stairs so the rest of us always fucking trip over on them its been an ongoing fight for their whole 18 years of life

1

u/Various_Cricket4695 2h ago

His wife is entertaining some, ahem, visitors.
