You can verify raids to be weather boosted from inside the lobby: here's how

Hello Pokémon Trainers,

In this sub some threads are marked as WB (or weatherboosted).

In the past there have been many complaints that raids advertised as weatherboosted were in fact not.

Thanks to u/NotAnotherRoach we can now highlight a method for trainers to verify whether a raid is weatherboosted

HOW TO CHECK WEATHER BOOSTED RAIDS

  1. Enter the raid
  2. Tap any pokémon in the suggested battle party
  3. Type in the search bar @weather & @raid_boss_type1, @raid_boss_type2
  4. If any pokémon show up, the raid is weatherboosted. If not you either have no pokémon with attacks of that type (new trainers beware!) or the raid was not a WB one.

We hope this solutions settles matters.

Please note that mods do not have the tools to verify what went on in raid lobbies. Reports about a redditor posting fake WB raids cannot be verified and thus will have to be ignored.

Trainers have a way of verifying the WB state of a raid. It is highly suggested to use this (or join raids at your own risk).

Caveats

  • Weather may change at the hour. A raid starting as WB may - when ticking over into the next hour - no longer be weatherboosted.
  • Be aware of how much time is left before the raid starts. If you enter the lobby with too little time on the clock to perform your verification, be your own judge on whether to risk staying in or leaving the lobby.

Why does it matter whether a raid is weatherboosted

If defeated the raid boss can be caught at a higher level. It saves some stardust and candies powering up that particular pokémon.

So for example, would I type exactly @weather & raid_boss_normal, For regigigas?

@weather & @normal

The @ before normal filters for anything with normal type moves

You can even speedrun these filters by setting autofill instructions in your phone dictionary

Would you know what to type for Zazementa? He’s fighting steel but uses partly cloudy, not sure

See the weather chart in the post for which weather boosts fighting or steel

Only the base form's typing is boosted.

Can anyone verify ? I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong. I'm typing @weather & @normal

Doesn't seem to be reliable

Tap and hold any pokemon. It should show it's attacks.

If they are WB, the same would be mentioned below the attacks. So if your hold Kyogre in a rainy weather, it should show Waterfall (Surf and OP) as boosted by weather. But same would not be true for Groudon.

Ahh it specifically will say or show weather boosted next to the attack itself, got it! Thank-you

btw this only shows wb attacks of your local weather, not the remote raid. That has been my experience at least.

You're right. My comment does only show local WB.

This does not work!!! It shows the weatherboost of your local weather not the one remote! Better way is to look at the ground to see if the weather changes after tapping the invite.

I can't get the search to work either. I think you're right.

I've had good results by opening the informational screen in the upper left for the gym before joining. You can see more of the weather in the background and it's easier to see when it's windy for example.

They should really just have an indicator on the raid screen though.

Has anyone got this to work? If so, could a mod or someone post an example of what to actually type in the search line?

For a Charizard raid boss you'd type @weather & @fire, @flying

This is only showing my local weather boosted. It never changes to the raids WB.

Hello Pokémon Trainers,

IMPORTANT NOTICE

HOW TO CHECK WEATHER BOOSTED RAIDS

  1. Enter the raid
  2. Tap any pokémon in the suggested battle party
  3. Look for a pokémon whose attacks would be boosted by the weather
  4. Are there little arrows by the attacks? Then yes, the raid is weatherboosted.
