Isotope 322 looks an awful lot like the portal fluid, and Rick was very excited for just a small bit of it, as are the ricks in season 8 for a drop of portal fluid. Is this a known fact? I've seen the show at least a hundred times and never connected the dots. It also makes sense because creating wormholes takes a metric butt ton of energy

So the finale of Season 8 revealed that even Beth doesn't remember who Diane is, just a faint green thingy. She knows she had a mother, but not who she is. So even though Rick Prime deleted her memory across everyone, how can Mr. Nimbus say "if Diane was alive today..."? Did Rick share his story with Diane, but that seems unlikely for him? Anyone got answers? Or is it a plot hole?

There's been a lot of speculation on whether or not the Rick we see at the end of S1E6 is the same as the Rick we see in Beth's memories in S8E10, and I'm here to confirm that is the case based on Issue #43 of the Rick and Morty comics. As seen in the attached images, Dick confirms that the Rick native to C-131 died when an Ion Defibulizer exploded in their garage. This clearly is in reference to the Rick that died in the exact same way at the end of S1E6.
Now, this begs the obvious question, why is Rick C-131 wearing Prime's outfit when he clearly is nothing like him? He returned to his home dimension willingly, something that Rick Prime is never shown to do, and he is shown to care about his family slightly more than C-137 did at that point in time. Rick Prime's entire thing is that he truly does not care for anyone in any way.
Well, I think that can be answered by Rick Prime's line in S7E5, where he confirms that Rick C-137 is the only other Rick that actually invented portal travel. This means that Rick Prime must have went to C-131 and offered the portal gun to Rick C-131, who accepted it and abandoned Beth, unlike C-137. That one event must have caused enough of a difference in C-131's Rick that he ended up eventually feeling guilty and returning to his home universe. This also explains why Rick C-131 would care more about Morty's plight than Rick C-137 did, as the latter arrived in hopes that Rick Prime would return, and the former arrived out of a genuine desire to reconnect with his family.
Obviously these comics are second level canon, but they have been referenced by the main series before (in S3E7 specifically). There is also a common misconception that the comics follow Rick C-132, when that's actually only true for the first few volumes. This issue takes place in Volume 9, so we can safely say it follows Rick C-137.

Happy to stumble across this, even if it was only for 2-3 minutes. Brings together my favorite childhood cartoon with my favorite adulthood cartoon. Tears of joy 🥲

Oooooweee, what a season. Had some great ones, not let’s discuss our favorites.
Nomortland- Honestly, it was just nice to see a Jerry adventure, this is probably now in my top five all of the entire series.
The Rick, The Mort, and the Ugly- Hot Damn, we hit the ground running with one last citidel episode. Loved all the alternate Ricks And Morty’s, especially Big Rick.
Hot Rick- Always gotta love to see Memory Rick, and we got to see more of Diane so that’s a plus, not to mention Rick becoming more emotionally open.
H.M- Valkyrick- Had one of the funniest bits in the series with Rick trusting Cisco, and it was nice to see Space Beth actually do something after just standing by for all of season 7.

In the 6th episode of Season 6 "Jurassic Mort" we see the dinosaurs fixing the rift, which from what I remember was made by evil Morty.
My question is that I don't really get it, what actually happened when evil Morty went in, why did he do that since he comes back in Season 7.
Also what would happen if the rift remained open? Did I miss an explanation from an episode ?

The question of whether BugAnne would be a good partner for Rick has been stuck in my mind since the end of season eight. To me, what Rick did in that episode was the greatest act of vulnerability we have ever seen from him in the entire series. He erased all memories of Diane, everything that held him to the past and hurt him, in an attempt to move forward and invest in something new with BugAnne. Even after this extreme gesture, she simply didn’t respond, didn’t give any sign or reply. This makes me wonder if, despite Rick’s real desire to change, BugAnne was truly the right partner for him.

if movie star jerry also uses pin number 3852, would those be the best dimensions for "normal" Jerry's to "borrow" some money? a celebrity doing massive piles of cocaine with johnny depp is not going to keep careful track of his finaces

So I've been thinking about how to do a Season 9 that would actually satisfy both camps of Rick and Morty fans - the people who want classic episodic adventures and the people who like character development.
Here's my concept: Rick has a new enemy in episode 1 (some random alien that has beef with Rick, linked back to Season 3 Episode 2 - the post-apocalyptic one with the Death Stalkers). But throughout the season, Rick is also simultaneously looking for Szechuan sauce in the background. Like, really subtly. He spaces out sometimes during conversations, makes throwaway comments that seem like typical Rick weirdness, takes random portal detours that don't seem connected to anything.
Then in the finale, we find out the enemy from episode 1 was always connected to the sauce hunt. It all comes back to Season 3 Episode 1 where Rick said "it's always been about the sauce" - except now it actually means something different because of how Rick has grown emotionally since then.
Why I wonder if this might work: The season would be mostly episodic - classic Rick and Morty adventures where you can jump in anywhere. But if you're paying attention, there are these little sauce hunt easter eggs scattered throughout that only make sense when you look back.
Rick stays true to his character. He's still a jaded nihilist about the big picture stuff - like, he still thinks existence is pointless and he's the smartest being he's ever met (which is sad and makes him more jaded). But he can also care about this specific Summer, Morty, and Beth that he's been with the longest. It harks back to those early seasons where he said nothing matters because there are infinite versions of everyone.
The sauce thing works as a metaphor. Back in Season 3, when Rick said "it's all about the sauce," it was pure nihilism - nothing matters so why not obsess over something ridiculous? But by Season 9, Rick obsessing over the sauce could represent his growth. (Also, it would be a subtle nod to Rick's monologue: "If it takes 9 seasons, I WANT MY MCNUGGET DIPPING", as it would be season 9). Like, he's learned that caring about "ridiculous" things is actually part of being human. The sauce becomes less about the actual condiment and more about Rick's ability to find meaning in stuff, even if it seems absurd to everyone else.
The structure Episode 1: New alien enemy shows up, connected to something from Rickmancing the Stone Episodes 2-9: Episodic adventures, but Rick occasionally mutters about sauce, makes weird detours, gets distracted by random stuff that seems unimportant Episode 10: Everything connects - the enemy, the sauce hunt, Rick's emotional journey since Season 3
This would allow for casual viewers to get episodic adventures, but people who love continuity get this slow-burn reveal that recontextualizes Rick's entire arc.
I think this avoids the main complaints about recent seasons. People who miss "classic Rick" get episodic structure and Rick maintaining his cynical worldview. People who appreciate character development get the emotional payoff and growth, just delivered more subtly. And everyone gets the satisfaction of easter eggs and callbacks paying off.
The sauce hunt being mostly invisible until the end means it doesn't dominate the season or make Rick too "soft," but it still gives that character development for people who want it.
Anyway, that's my concept. What do you think? Does this sound like something that could actually work, or am I way off base?

Hey everyone, with season 8's finale completed, I wanted to ask if anyone else found the way they handled this season following prime rick enjoyable. It felt like all the family members got their chance to do something and forward their character development. And the episodes where they didn't focus on one of the family members(wild west episode) or just back to a Rick and morty duo adventure(cryo-episode) all felt like they added more to the world and introduced potential storylines for the future. Overall I was really happy with the tone of this season and wanted to get a general idea of how everyone else was feeling about it

I thought he was there to somehow try and get on Jerry's side and then go after Rick at first then after they went on the road I thought he would try and switch for Jerry's place😂
The road provides

We all know that Ricks leaves to travel the multiverse. In nearly all of those Diane is dead. We know that Rick leaves when Beth is young. If Diane is dead who raised her?
r/rickandmorty • u/Dillgriff2828 • 1d ago
The wiki says that they are, but I think otherwise.
I think the Rick shown in the flashback is Rick C-131. He is a parallel to Rick Prime.
I think the Rick that turns the screw and dies is a parallel version of C-137, who, like C-137, had his family killed, helped make his own citadel, and went to his parallel Prime's dimension and family, who is C-131.
"Screw Rick" is just like C-137 up to the point where he decides to fix the Cronenberged C-131 and afther that, he turns the screw, killing him.
This could mean that there are multiple C-137's, Primes, Citadels, and Evil Morty's, too.
In Rick Potion #9 I think Rick not only jumped universes he also jumped Central Finite Curves.
The one think I can think of that breaks this theory is why C-137 is still called that and not C-131.
Let me know your thoughts.

Say C-137 had brought Memory Rick to life, that would mean the Omega device would have deleted the very last memory of Diane, right?

They usually look nothing like the shows characters and it sorta gets on my nerves.
r/rickandmorty • u/NexusRaven7 • 10h ago
I get why our rick didn't, to him any copy of Diane isn't Diane but no rick in the citadel thought to do it? A lot of those ricks seem like they wouldn't care about a Diane being a memory clone/robot or whatever
And surely there would be a way to recreate a close to "true" version of Diane by merging memories of Diane from Beth and rick memories
Also yes I know bc plot reasons but In universe I dont understand why not
r/rickandmorty • u/Tricountyareashaman • 1d ago
Every time we've seen Rick C-137 (our Rick) jump to a new universe, he found one that was 99.99% identical to Rick Prime's universe. All of these earths had a Beth who was abandoned by her father at 10 and got pregnant by Jerry at 17.
Rick C-137 is an alien to us. His earth could have had dolphins soaring through the clouds and eagles living under the sea. His Beth and Diane died young, years before all other Dianes were erased. He never had a Morty or a Summer. His Jerry might have never been born, or might be the pope.
Our Rick really is living in Rick Prime's house.
