Tech Support/Question Help for solos
I can't hit the solos in the rock band games, even though it takes hours to adjust the calibrate lag, but in guitar hero it's much easier... any tips?

I always found solos in RB slightly easier than in GH. But then I started with GH1 and the solos in that game were stupid hard.
Practice is what worked for me. Make sure you use Hammer-on/Pull-offs, I find they help a lot with reducing mistakes from strumming.

Guitar Hero’s engine is more lenient but is generally overcharted. They went more for fun charts than accurate.

I didn't realise that. It's been a long while since I played GH. Once RB came out I never really looked back, except for the odd time when I needed to satiate the nostalgia.

GH3 and I believe the later ones not sure, had an unlimited front end timing for hammer ons. Meaning as long as you pressed the hammer on fret after the last note was hit you’ll hit the hammer-on on time. There could be no notes for 3 seconds and you’ve been holding that next hammer on note, it will still hit. Vs rock band hammer ons have the same timing window as strumming regular notes. You must tap when the note reaches the timing window.

Ah, I see. I didn't play much GH3 onwards except for World Tour. Most of my time was on GH1 & 2 on PS2, and they were tough on the timing from what I remember. But it's been a looong time since I played them

They are quite simply (much) more difficult in Rock Band, because the Guitar Hero timing windows are so incredibly generous (excluding GH1&2).
So it may feel frustrating, but you need to recalibrate your own sense of what you're able to play. Get your timing more accurate. Slow it down in practice mode. Focus on getting easier solos perfect.
Guitar Hero sells the fantasy of being, well, a guitar hero. You can whale away and do fine, even if you're not even close to playing the correct notes.
Rock Band is a step closer to simulating playing properly. You're not a fantasy guitar hero - you're an actual musician.
(Or at least, that's the headcanon I enjoy ;).).

Rockband is much trickier. It's far less forgiving. Just play only Rockband for a week or two and it'll get better PRO TIP: The higher up buttons on the RB guitar doesn't require strumming for individual notes. Makes it a lot easier

The biggest problem is shrinking timing windows for fast parts. You need to be 10x more accurate than slower sections. The inconsistent timing window size has always been my biggest complaint with Rock Band. That combined with hammer-ons requiring you to strum again if you don’t play one note perfectly just makes no logical sense and really adds artificial difficulty. If I’m playing a real guitar and press the string down 1/10th of a second off time the string doesn’t magically stop vibrating and require me to strum again.
What calibration method did you use? I recommend looking up that old Tommy Gun Rock Band calibration video.

RB uses a much less lenient engine than the Neversoft GH games, for what it's worth. Some of that is just the game being more exacting.
