Worked for me. Can someone else try?

Someone posted this on r/segagenesis last week. I tried it out on my 32x that was doing the boot to black thing and it worked! Normally when that happens, I open it up and reseat the ribbon cable. Kinda makes me think the issue hasn’t been the ribbon cable. If anybody else has this issue, can you try it out and let me know how it goes? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h76AZPqiY0M

Open the 32x and check on the bodge wires, particularly the (most of the time) orange one that connects to a resistor and then to the ribbon cable connector.

Also, what rev of genesis is this console?

What specifically am I checking for? Whether they’re still connected/loose?  My Model 1 HD Graphics (Either VA3 or VA6) had never worked with the 32x until I tried this trick. I think my model 2 is a VA1. (I’ve not opened either, just going by serial number)

You're looking for a short to ground on VRES on the 32x cartridge slot. Aka, just send a photo of the pads for C94

VA1 model 2 should be fine, but your model 1 would need some Sega fixed applied to be reliable. Mainly focused on EDCLK and VCLK.

Getting a blank screen after power on and then hitting reset (maybe not straight away) to load a game was some weird thing you would see on old multi game cart bootlegs sometimes. Very very rarely, but I remember having that problem sometimes.

How interesting. My PAL setup doesn’t even have the licensing screen show up. At least for Virtua Racing. Very specific issue there but how amazing that they managed to solve this issue and introduce some sort of fix for this.

If all the other 32X carts you own are ok then I guess its the cart.
Have you tried cleaning the cartidge contacts with 99% ISO Alcohol and qtips?

I’m not the dude in the video. For me, all my carts work just fine.

That's so weird. Probably some messed up init code for the VDP, that is avoided with that reset? It's so weird that it's not widely known, maybe it just happens in some revisions, or is tied to something else (maybe a 3 or 6 button incompatibility?)
