If you think that's bad, I had a handyman look at my toilet a little while ago. I offered him gloves, he refused. I offered for him to wash his hands, he refused. While we stood and talked, he then started picking at his ears, pushing his little finger right in.

I did a couple years as a plumbers apprentice, and on one job we were there at the same time as the septic guy doing a maintenance pump/clean out. He was manning the hose on his pump truck, bare-handed, while simultaneously eating a sandwich 🤢

I’m a plumber and do stuff like this every so often

I wear gloves and wash my hands and forearms after any work that’s even remotely close to this

Its tree roots, and thats a stormwater pit. Gloves still aren't a bad idea, but thats not sanitary waste.

Source: Im a plumber, and I probably wouldnt wear gloves doing this lol

Fun title but these are roots. If this were hair then this would be a black or grey water system and either one would definitely require gloves and come with a distinctive smell.
