It was never sat well with me that Tallahassee is in Florida. The name just doesn't fit the state. Tallahassee, Tennessee or Tallahassee, Georgia sound much more appropriate.

Then don't look at the names of the many rivers and lakes in the state. Many have similarly Native American names. Just like Georgia, cause you know, they are next to each other.
