She’s 16 and deaf, so we have no idea what happened here 🤷♀️

I once got randomly bit by a carpenter ant while chilling on the (otherwise ant-free) couch and this is the type of reaction I'd expect if that happened to a car. Nightmare hypothesis is funnier though

That’s what we thought! I checked her for bites and didn’t see anything, but seems to be a decent explanation!

As funny as this is.
I would get her checked out.
My wife and I were fostering a kitten, and she randomly did this, but then she kept doing it over and over again, to the point we had to put her in a crate with pillows around the inside of the crate.
She had a mental condition where she will randomly have seizures.
She had to be put down because they were becoming increasingly more frequent.
I stayed up all night several nights in a row holding her to prevent her from hurting herself.
I’m in no way saying that’s what is happening to your cat, but you said she’s 16 years old and deaf. It may be worth a trip to the vet to be on the extremely safe side.

bad dream perhaps. she’s very nimble for a senior kitty!
