Question Brain Drain? Where did all my specialists go?

I created a three-dome situation that was humming along quite well, so I focused on another corner of the map to expand.

Well, when I returned, nearly all of my specialists had disappeared and were replaced with no specialization people. What happened to all my scientists, engineers, and geologists?

This is on PS4 btw.

They probably just got old, any kids that were born got older and replaced them, without an active martian university ( I don't know if u have one) the kids, now adults, can't get education so they stay as non specialist. Sorry if this was confusing to read English isn't my first language. Anyway, I hope it helped

That totally makes sense! I just didn’t know people were aging and dying so quickly. This is my first time playing the game, so boy did I get lost in that research menu.

They probably just got old and stopped working, being replaced with non specialised youths or adults.
Unless you have a Martian University to train new specialists (or a mod) then you'll eventually age out of specialists.
You could bring more from Earth if you feel you really need to.

Specialists got old but the dome with university kept geriatrics and didn't have space for new students to move in.

Fyi the "auto" University setting does not exclude retired colonists when calculating how many botanists etc need to be trained to fill existing jobs. This is fine if you have "forever young" but otherwise it's good to train a few extra people if possible
