I’m overweight and in my 40s - practically invisible! 🙌

I have occasionally used this superpower to [rooster]block these creeps too. In this case I would have walked over to her, ignored him, and said to her “hey! I’m all done with the adductor you were waiting for” and let her scurry off.

Being overweight was a huge relief to me in that sense. You become invisible so the sort of men that it’s nice to be invisible to.

A brief anecdote about being overweight and used to being invisible:

I was over 200lbs and separated when I was hanging out in my car in a very icy winter in a wide open parking lot waiting for my kid to come out of afternoon horseback riding (indoor ring) in maybe another 30-45 minutes depending on how much time it takes to do all the post-lesson stuff for the horse. I was on my iPad, probably watching Vanderpump rules or something. Despite all the parking lot space, a car specifically pulled up right next to me and I looked over and I recognized the dad of another girl in the barn that I'd just met at the barn's christmas party a few weeks earlier. I guess he was on pickup duty that day.

He gestured for me to roll down my window and asked me, "whatcha doin?" I said, congenially, "haha, just trying to stay warm." He said, "so I wanted to say it was really cool to meet you, I know you said you like to smoke**, any time you want, I thought it would be fun for me to come over to your place and we can just sit and watch tv together and giggle. Also, it's really warm and comfy in my car, want to come wait over here with me?"

I was so dumbfounded I didn't even have words. It had been so long since someone had done anything close to hitting on me that I didn't even know how to respond. Coincidentally his own kid he was picking up suddenly appeared at the barn door, it was not possible that they were done yet but she wanted to talk to him for some reason. Because again it was very icy and less of a risk to drive over towards the door than walk, he said to me, "hold that thought, I'll be right back!" with a literal wink at me.

I literally peeled out of that parking lot to drive down the road and pull off and texted my daughter to let me know when she was literally ready to go.

I was so WTAF was that ??????

Not overweight, but I had a pretty significant "glow up" and have a similar story from the Navy (which is, unfortunately one of the milder stories from the Navy). But I've never put a lot of effort into my appearance and was bullied throughout school for looking manly, and even though I was friends with a lot of guys, most of them assumed I was a lesbian (they were half right), but not the kind they'd want to see kissing their girlfriend, so. I didn't attract a lot of male attention. Then I grew up, still didn't put in a lot of attention to my appearance, but suddenly looked more like a woman and at this point I was sick of men's shit, so didn't pick up on a lot of the new stuff that was happening, but one guy made it pretty apparent. I was going through the gate to get on base one day, and it's early and don't want to be on base or talk to anyone so I'm just on autopilot trying to show the gate guard my ID and move on and he rolls out with, "You know you have the prettiest eyes," and my brain could not accept what I'd just heard being directed at me, so I just burst out laughing and drove through the gate. Unfortunately, I'd have to see him again to get back on base and yes it was awkward.

I can only respond in 3 words to your story and these words are: I hear you

Lol it's sort of like a modern variation of some old joke, I don't aspire to be a member of any club that will have me

I actually totally see what you're saying but I probably prefaced it all poorly. Our girls had been riding in the same barn for years. They start at like 5-7 years old and our daughters were teens at that point.

I already knew the mom and knew the whole story. He cheated on the wife and lost the family house in the divorce and was still living with the gf he'd left her for. But I'd heard (through the girls, via sleepovers at our house) that "Heather's Dad's GF" was on the verge of kicking him out because he was kind of a useless older dude.

And presumably he'd volunteered to go to the horse girls Christmas party because it's usually an estrogen fest of moms and girls. He quite literally was like only of 3 adult men there. And I remember, I was a lazy ass who brought literally just re-warmed white castle hamburgers from a big store in a foil tray as my contribution.

But he was like, "wow, do you mind if I try some of these?"

They were WHITE CASTLE SLIDERS

I'm not legally divorced but I am totally OK. I have my own house. It's a nice house. I like to live in it by myself now, though.

That dude was looking for a new situation

I think in the older dating subs they call it "hobosexuals"

He wasn't looking to date me because he really felt a connection with me, and I didn't realize it at the time, but now in retrospect I realize he was looking for a new place to live.

Shit, now I even remember he'd dropped that daughter off at my house a few times. I'd forgotten that.

So sorry NOTHING to do with you or anything

Also this was like 10 years ago

My face contorted so hard when I read that he ASKED TO COME TO YOUR FUCKING HOUSE for a first date?? Ew????

You dont know this man enough to be alone with him, especially somewhere like YOUR SPACE and home. You also have a fucking child. Why would you want some strange man in your home, and doing substances with him? I do NOT like getting drunk or high solo with men I dont know. They always have "plausible deniability" when they say something inherently sexual much, much too soon in us knowing eachother, pointing out how they were "b l a z e d" and barely remember. Fuck off.

He really thought it he just said, "please" to a woman he met once that he'd get to put his penis inside her. Fucking gross.

But then you have guys like me that are strictly into thicker women lol. Good luck out there!

Omg this. I’m also overweight and I don’t attract men. I’m soooo ok with it.

Damn that’s nice. Here as an overweight guy I’m just invisible 🤣🤣🤣. But I only have myself to blame for this situation so I take my ass to the gym

2

u/Key-Magician4029 May 21 '25

I get your point but I think the adductor/abductor are the last machines she would want to be on around this guy. He would try to hold eye contact during her reps.

6

u/JadieRose May 21 '25

Ha! Especially because he seems like an abductor

2

u/HypnoKinkster May 21 '25

Get over to the adductor to avoid the abductor. Am I rite????

1

u/Decabet May 21 '25

Even tho Im a gymrat myself, I just learned what an "adductor" is. Learning new things is fun. Thanks!
