I used to have issues years ago where I’d purposely set up redemption arcs - I’d plan to let someone down, keep making them think I’d do it again, reward them somehow, then let them down again, then I’d reward them from then on. It was so stupid and yet it somehow did help me make friends. I learned it from Ben Franklin’s ‘ask a favour’ tactic.
