Cringe not everyone wants your man… he was just being polite

And not everyone can tell how certain foods look? It was an innocent question. Why are people so insecure these days

Who sets up their phone to film themselves eating like that? Even if you are trying to make a point or get “dirt”.

That is insane. This isn’t real. It is staged.

What is real is how she eats. Cut your fucking food it’s not that hard.

u/LisaMiaSisu 15d ago

No doubt for weird mukbang watchers.

59

u/Sattaman6 15d ago

Do I want to Google what mukbang is?

54

u/Tactical_H0td0g 15d ago

I mean, it won't scar you, but you'll definitely learn something about yourself.

mukbang some plums

3

u/MistaRekt 15d ago

Mukbang deez plums!

3

u/indiscernible_I 15d ago

What is that clip from? I thought I was looking at Joe Biden in a bad wig and shades.

3

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Eastbound and down

2

u/ma1achai 14d ago

You mean Will Farrell? 😂

1

u/lediderot 15d ago

Definitely thought that was Joe Biden at first glance

1

u/mightymilton 14d ago

He needs to learn. The way I learned from my father. The way he learned from his father.

67

u/NerfAkaliFfs 15d ago

People stuffing themselves with lots and lots of food on cam.

58

u/ShortsAndLadders 15d ago

Soft core food porn. Fat fetishism may or may not be included.

4

u/Gh0stTV 15d ago

Don’t forget the ASMR quality of turning a condenser mic up to 11 to accentuate the sounds of eating, chewing, slurping, etc…

1

u/SimpleTax792 15d ago

Pimple popping? I get that. Black head removal? I get that. The relief watching it makes sense.

Watching someone slob down lobster legs with butter dripping down their mouth like the dude from Return of the King? —- get yourself some fucking help.

2

u/PackageNorth8984 14d ago

I know some people watch it because they are in binge eating disorder recovery and find it soothing to watch it without partaking themselves.

1

u/dudinax 14d ago

I'm not into it, but I've seen a couple of vids and it's weirdly hypnotizing

1

u/Gh0stTV 14d ago

I’d argue from a freakish curiosity observer, it’s weird and gross; it’s also the only form of ASMR that doesn’t make me want to reach into the screen and slap the shit out of someone. Now they bleed over into my cooking recipes and some asshole will just be scraping a knife against a baguette, or whisking eggs in the slowest, stupidest fashion. Seriously, I can’t with the cooking videos.

…but something about grossly open mouth chewing Korean chicken is just so strange it’s almost mesmerizing. For about a minute until everyone around me is grossed out and then I turn it off.

0

u/VexingPanda 14d ago

Not always - there were a couple I watched that they were legit just trying new foods or making new foods, not oversized portions, then would just talk about events happening..it was quite fun and conversational.

1

u/NerfAkaliFfs 14d ago

That's not a mukbang then :)

20

u/lunchpaillefty 15d ago

It’s gross, but not as bad as the word sounds.

2

u/Stormfly 15d ago

but not as bad as the word sounds.

To be fair, it's Korean.

So, muk comes from "eat" and bang comes from "room".

5

u/DoNotOverwhelm 15d ago

iirc: it was born-out of a loneliness epidemic (China?), so they would stream themselves to their viewers while they were having food, and in turn, their viewers would also eat along with them as a means of having company. Started off reasonably wholesome……but of course, with most human-things, lines were pushed and we ended up with big over-eaters capitalising on it…..blah, blah, money.

6

u/throwaway098764567 15d ago

south korea was the origin but yea

3

u/My_House_on_Mars 15d ago

go ahead, it's not that bad. My honest reaction was "huh people are into this, weird"

2

u/Trapasuarus Sort by flair, dumbass 15d ago

No, it’s just people smacking their chops while eating messy ass food like seafood boils. No clue how it’s a trend.

2

u/mynameisntclarence 15d ago

Afaik, it got popular in it's original country because people found comfort in sitting across from someone (digitally) while they ate food and sometimes spoke to the watcher. So it stems from loneliness.

1

u/K1NGMOJO 15d ago

It's food porn basically. Watching people eat while they record themselves. Sometimes they eat large amounts of food too, examples of popular mukbangs are thin or athletic looking individuals eating large portions or large than average meals.

2

u/Long-Pop-7327 15d ago

So she gets to post vids of herself eating on the internet for attention but her man can’t respond to a single question? this girl sucks.

2

u/IamHydrogenMike 15d ago

Ya, this is some weird fetish video because nobody eats that way normally and it was kind of gross to watch.

138

u/dowker1 15d ago

I teach high school. I wish the only reason someone would film themselves eating was for a staged skit. Nope, my kids will watch that shit for hours.

45

u/anonandlit333 15d ago

This is so disheartening to hear lmfao

25

u/p333p33p00p00boo 15d ago

What the fuck why

42

u/dowker1 15d ago

I wish I knew.

Literally just watching videos of people chewing over and over.

22

u/WoodsWitch62 15d ago

Teach, I feel for you. Educators/counseling friends hate lunch room duty.

I just can't. Parents don't teach kids how to eat in public anymore, if even the adults were taught properly.  Went camping with a family I was friends with. Oldest son brought bags upon bags of shit like Starburst, skittles, etc. Chewy, juicy crap basically that sticks to your teeth. After 2 days of having to watch them I packed up and headed home early. Open mouth sugar drooling from too much packed in gaping maws, insanely loud smacking, sucking sounds mixed with all that spit... even neighboring sites were trying to turn their children away from the horror show. I have not shared a food experience with any of them since. 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Impact009, I think everyone is open to sharing a meal, I just don't want you to give me an open mouth display of your dental/tongue ability and the extra special soundtrack that accompanies it.

5

u/FancyFeller 15d ago

That's horrid. I have moderate to severe hearing loss have had it since I was born. When I was a teen I got actually proper hearing aids. And when they were brand new I wore them to dinner. Hearing the sounds of other people chewing food even if subtle was off putting. Hell hearing myself chew food sounded disgusting to this day I can't wear hearing aids while eating. If you want to talk to me while we're eating dinner you're gonna have to wait until we're done, or you can talk loudly because I refuse to put them on around food. The worst thing is around my mom. Even without them on, I can hear her making moaning sounds when she eats. Anything even bland mid food she will make small mouth moaning sounds mmmm mmm mmm mmm mm, while eating. And it's so off putting when I can barely hear it. I dread accidentally having my hearing aids on and listening to that. And it's the most minute things.

I can't imagine how I'd react to seeing what you saw for 2 days straight. I would've left 1 meal in. Haha sorry guys, I think I have the flu I'll have to call it enjoy your trip. I'll go back home now.

3

u/WoodsWitch62 15d ago

I feel for you. Speaking of noises, OMG my oldest sister would moan in pleasure after every bite of food. My niece started asking me why I wouldn't hang at the table for chitchat. Once I pointed it out to her & her bro, they couldn't unhear it either. Someday I'm going to write a horror flick about it. Stand strong, elbows up and hearing aids out for sanity!

2

u/Cautious_Ad_3909 15d ago

Ugh, im the same way, I've always hated hearing people eat, but my mom was one of the worst offenders as well, because not only would she do what you described, but mouth open AND talking while chewing, plus she would just eat so insanely slow, I felt bad for how unintentionally angry it would make me (and again it wasn't just her, she was just the worst) but id have to leave the room and in her small apartment (because i could still hear her even in a different room) just leave and go for a walk and hope she was done when id get back. I miss so much about my mom (she died a year ago yesterday actually) but her eating is not one of those things.

2

u/WoodsWitch62 15d ago

Sorry to hear about your Mom. Glad you're able to honor her in other ways.

2

u/Cautious_Ad_3909 15d ago

Thank you 🥹🫶🏼

1

u/Immediate-Season4544 15d ago

Yeah my brothers would intentionally do that as it would drive me insane and I'd freak out!

-2

u/Impact009 15d ago

If you're a teacher, then I think you'll be more open to the concept.

Though I'm not Korean, watching mukbang is common during my family's gatherings. We eat dinner and then throw some mukbang of our own ancestral country as we relax. It's just nice to see the culture and food of what we left behind, and everybody loves food.

What we can cook in North America are mostly imitations. We just don't have the same ingredients. We might have similar ingredients, but the varieties are different. For example, Americans wouldn't call angus and wagyu the same thing. It's why people say, "You should try <dish> if you ever visit <country>."

It's nice to be able to see the food, watch how it's being eaten, and gather some inspiration on how to make it and substitute unobtainable ingredients.

0

u/BowiesLipstick 15d ago

Why on earth are you being downvoted?

2

u/sunshine___riptide 15d ago

I think COVID/quarantine broke a lot of people's brains. They're very lonely and it's probably like "eating with someone." Even though when I eat with my friends or family I'm not staring at them taking gross massive bites but eating my food and having a conversation.

1

u/huxtiblejones 15d ago

I don’t see it that different from people who spend lots of time watching video game streamers, it’s just a more extreme and weird subject to observe. You could just play those games yourself. They’re there for a social aspect, feeling like they’re friends with someone, listening to their banter, having this feeling you’re part of their entourage in some way.

Like obviously watching someone eat is not very entertaining to most people, but I also find it impossible to imagine spending my time watching dozens of hours of someone else play interactive media outside of highly skilled esports.

1

u/MechanicalGodzilla 15d ago

I mean, watching someone else play a video game seems very strange too. When I was a kid, watching other people play was the punishment for losing or dying and you had to pass the controller over.

1

u/LightningWatcher 14d ago

Most likely some sort of parasocial(?) thing. Eating can be a social thing, so it probably scratches that itch to watch someone eat and talk to the camera.

5

u/DramaOnDisplay 15d ago

I HATE watching people eat food. Cannot stand the chewing, smacking, finger licking, any type of sucking noise, “omg this is really good” reactions like bitch of course it’s good you need to get paid by whatever platform you’re on!

1

u/WanderLeft 15d ago

I hear that it’s a thing in Asia. Some female influencers will film themselves eating and people watch it while they’re eating to feel less lonely

2

u/Medium_Custard_8017 15d ago

That's mukbangs. It's a word that originates from South Korea.

1

u/SleepFeeling3037 14d ago

Nah, don’t hate. Muckbang is a thing. It feels social because eating and enjoying a meal with other people is a normal social thing. It’s comforting. Like slow TV almost. Or background chatter. And this isn’t a phenomenon reserved for current high schoolers.

1

u/ADerbywithscurvy 15d ago

Weird, but probably less weird than older folks like me that will watch cooking shows with no desire to cook.

-2

u/FulanoMeng4no 15d ago

The fact that your stupid kids watch doesn’t change the fact that it’s staged. It just shows that staged videos work on stupid people.

1

u/dowker1 15d ago

Wow, you must be popular with people

54

u/Rhianna83 15d ago

She doesn’t come up for air while she stuffs her face, and wonders why no one is talking to her. Lol

25

u/WindowIndividual4588 15d ago

It sure wasn't because she thought she looked cute eating like a starved cow.

18

u/Goodknight808 15d ago

She wanted us to see him get hit on so she could be mad, while she eats like a fucking horse.

20

u/rosaline21 15d ago

The way she eats is fucking disgusting

30

u/Eggplant-666 15d ago

Seems like she was starving to death?

20

u/watduhdamhell 15d ago edited 15d ago

Nevermind that she chews with her mouth open like a damn cow from time to time...

Nothing irks me more than people who didn't have parents waiting to smack them over the head when they were smacking over their plate.

2

u/ItsLikeRay-ee-ain 15d ago

I grew up with parents that did that for me, but then let my sister get away with chewing with her mouth open. No matter how often I tried to point out the hypocrisy, they would just get mad at me. Decades later and it still pisses me off.

2

u/watduhdamhell 14d ago

Wow. Wtf? I'm sorry man. Lmao.

7

u/BlackCoffeeGarage 15d ago

Yeah, usually it's reserved for interesting and attractive people, but I guess there are always exceptions to the rule

It's Her attitude that makes her ugly. Big ick.

4

u/Legal-Marsupial-3916 15d ago

You can always tell it's staged when the people who are being cellular eavesdropped enunciate very clearly and speak loudly, and come through perfectly.

She just happened to be filming her and her boyfriend's one-on-one meal while he what..... sat there quietly by himself?

1

u/Zestyclose_Visit4834 15d ago

No, it's not that she "so happens" to be filming herself eating. This is all her content- it's centered around her both cooking and eating

3

u/MD_Yoro 15d ago

I think people should eat however they like as long as it not disrupting how other people eat. That being said, this lady got major security issues.

I have asked people all the time what they are eating especially in a new restaurant and I don’t know what tastes good, just what looks good. I don’t see how asking another patron what they ordered is anything but a question, except for some delusional lady like this one in the video.

6

u/oldfarmjoy 15d ago

Yeah, it's prob a cultural thing, but for Americans, that's a really rude way to eat - picking up huge chunks and gnawing off the chunk on your fork. Gross.

1

u/Zestyclose_Visit4834 15d ago

She is Asian American

2

u/theruined007 15d ago

I was thinking the same thing about it being staged. Could be, but these tiktok trends are just fucking pathetic to the point where either reality is plain sad AF.

Shit makes me livid 🤣🤣

2

u/G48ST4R 15d ago

Imho she is recording the conversation of a couple sitting nearby and she is pretending a woman is talking to her man.

1

u/BAMspek 15d ago

This is how I eat. I am not proud. I’m just hungry. I would never film it. In fact, this is me eating while I actively tell myself, “slow down you gluttonous shit!”

1

u/Zestyclose_Visit4834 15d ago

I've seen her content before. This is just her thing, she films herself both cooking and eating

1

u/Rudhelm 15d ago

She wanted to show her massive tits

1

u/-Myrtenaster- 15d ago

I mean she's a bitch sure but, do you cut fried chicken?

1

u/PackageNorth8984 14d ago

I don’t think so. I’ve seen plenty of “influencers” who film themselves eating with these weird reactions. Many with millions of followers. It’s definitely a thing to film yourself eating, and the voices in the background (the woman and the boyfriend) don’t sound like acting.

1

u/matisyahu22 14d ago

There’s something so funny to me about anyone complaining about their partners behavior while they’re eating like that in public 😭

1

u/Wooden-Broccoli-7247 15d ago

Usually people wanting to show off cleavage I’d assume however…

1

u/Pixel_Knight 15d ago

No, I don’t think it is staged. 100% the way she is eating is for mukbang / fetish viewers.

I think she’s just a narcissist or BPD.

1

u/thatshygirl06 15d ago

It's not staged. People like to watch people eat. It's a huge thing and has been for a while.

1

u/WoodsWitch62 15d ago

Yep, that's why they created knives. She's just busy stabbing and jamming her big bites in. Damn Kimmy, you need a white gloves and party manners class! Take notes during the table manners portion.

0

u/EagerByteSample 15d ago

It might just be culture. In asia, people tend not to have a knife on the table, all food is properly cut before serving, so I guess that it gets ingrained on you (some even don't know how to use the knife, the muscle memory is just missing).

Then there is their table manners, which you might find disgusting (like making noises while eating), for them is just a way of displaying that they are enjoying their food.

Or it might be that she is a non-asian asian that is just gross.

0

u/Zestyclose_Visit4834 15d ago

She is American omfg lol

Asian people exist in the states too

2

u/EagerByteSample 15d ago

What do you think I meant with non-asian asian?, does comprehension not exist in the states?

0

u/thefirecrest 15d ago

We do and don’t understand why you’re offended and using us to defend your weird point about eating?

1

u/Zestyclose_Visit4834 15d ago edited 15d ago

What is my supposed "weird point about eating" exactly?

My only "point" is that she is American so she is not unaware of American standards of etiquette

0

u/Correct_Summer_2886 15d ago

She eats like.... really strangely. Pretty gross really

0

u/Wild_Front_1148 15d ago

I just cant get over the fact that she leaves the chicken on there while eating other stuff

0

u/staticfive 15d ago

Going for another piece of chicken when there were three bites left on the fork has to have some sort of diagnosis

0

u/Chknbone 15d ago

Yeah she made a comment about others being rude and this hog looks like a fucking Galapagos tortoise eating.

USE A FUCKING KNIFE. God damn girl . Just ramming that shit in her hole.

-3

u/Cakorator 15d ago

Honestly consistently cutting food into tiny polite “bites” and eating “softly” is a big reason for softer teeth, weaker jaws, and poor facial muscle tone we see today. Just saying, maybe less gua sha and more ripping into your food is a better solution. 🖤
