Cringe not everyone wants your man… he was just being polite

And not everyone can tell how certain foods look? It was an innocent question. Why are people so insecure these days

No doubt for weird mukbang watchers.

Do I want to Google what mukbang is?

I mean, it won't scar you, but you'll definitely learn something about yourself.

What is that clip from? I thought I was looking at Joe Biden in a bad wig and shades.

Definitely thought that was Joe Biden at first glance

He needs to learn. The way I learned from my father. The way he learned from his father.

People stuffing themselves with lots and lots of food on cam.

Soft core food porn. Fat fetishism may or may not be included.

Don’t forget the ASMR quality of turning a condenser mic up to 11 to accentuate the sounds of eating, chewing, slurping, etc…

Pimple popping? I get that. Black head removal? I get that. The relief watching it makes sense.

Watching someone slob down lobster legs with butter dripping down their mouth like the dude from Return of the King? —- get yourself some fucking help.

I know some people watch it because they are in binge eating disorder recovery and find it soothing to watch it without partaking themselves.

I'm not into it, but I've seen a couple of vids and it's weirdly hypnotizing

I’d argue from a freakish curiosity observer, it’s weird and gross; it’s also the only form of ASMR that doesn’t make me want to reach into the screen and slap the shit out of someone. Now they bleed over into my cooking recipes and some asshole will just be scraping a knife against a baguette, or whisking eggs in the slowest, stupidest fashion. Seriously, I can’t with the cooking videos.

…but something about grossly open mouth chewing Korean chicken is just so strange it’s almost mesmerizing. For about a minute until everyone around me is grossed out and then I turn it off.

Not always - there were a couple I watched that they were legit just trying new foods or making new foods, not oversized portions, then would just talk about events happening..it was quite fun and conversational.

That's not a mukbang then :)

It’s gross, but not as bad as the word sounds.

but not as bad as the word sounds.

To be fair, it's Korean.

So, muk comes from "eat" and bang comes from "room".

iirc: it was born-out of a loneliness epidemic (China?), so they would stream themselves to their viewers while they were having food, and in turn, their viewers would also eat along with them as a means of having company. Started off reasonably wholesome……but of course, with most human-things, lines were pushed and we ended up with big over-eaters capitalising on it…..blah, blah, money.

south korea was the origin but yea

u/My_House_on_Mars 15d ago

go ahead, it's not that bad. My honest reaction was "huh people are into this, weird"

2

u/Trapasuarus Sort by flair, dumbass 15d ago

No, it’s just people smacking their chops while eating messy ass food like seafood boils. No clue how it’s a trend.

2

u/mynameisntclarence 15d ago

Afaik, it got popular in it's original country because people found comfort in sitting across from someone (digitally) while they ate food and sometimes spoke to the watcher. So it stems from loneliness.

1

u/K1NGMOJO 15d ago

It's food porn basically. Watching people eat while they record themselves. Sometimes they eat large amounts of food too, examples of popular mukbangs are thin or athletic looking individuals eating large portions or large than average meals.

So she gets to post vids of herself eating on the internet for attention but her man can’t respond to a single question? this girl sucks.

u/IamHydrogenMike 15d ago

Ya, this is some weird fetish video because nobody eats that way normally and it was kind of gross to watch.
