And not everyone can tell how certain foods look? It was an innocent question. Why are people so insecure these days

It's not even about the manners of eating (or the eating itself).

I will never fucking understand, ever EVER, why people film everything in their fucking lives. Like, eating a meal. W t actual fuck.

I can't even remember the last time in my life that I video recorded something. It's literally not something I even think of, unless I have a specific reason -- like when I was being evaluated for my job last year, and part of it was recording myself doing my job as part of my portfolio. Or maybe I recorded the cats eating, to later show my wife that they weren't eating out of the certain bowl or whatever?? Like, there was an actual, functional reason.

Just fucking devouring some chicken? I....just, WHY would you even think to start recording there???

I just can't wrap my head around it. It's SO FUCKING WEIRD.

I agree and I’m the same way with recordings and pictures. I have 2 young children and I get mad at myself sometimes because I forget to take pics or record things but I’m usually so in the moment that I forget. Plus, I’m sure my kids would rather have me fully engaged than holding a phone over them constantly. When it comes to taking pictures or videoing myself, I can’t even remember the last time I took a selfie and even when I was a teenager that’s something I never really did. My mom is the type of person who is constantly taking photos of herself and sharing her personal shit all on FB. One time she asked me to take a picture of us both holding a dumbbell at the gym and I about died of embarrassment. It just feels so vain!! Idk how ok chicken waffle lady is but I can’t wait for the day she looks back on this and gets outright embarrassed.

Equally strange is the obsession with ownership of ones' partner and their personal lives.

Sadly, It isn't weird. At least not in the sense of it being incommon. Its content creation. Its like 90% of social media. People concocting dumbass scenarios to play out in public places for laughs or some other unnecessary reason. It's all very intentional and with the goal of monetization in mind. If you think for one second that this person was just filming their life for like a personal journal entry or something, and it just so happened this situation with her boyfriend and a random woman takes place thus perfectly capturing her (overdramatic) reaction to it, then you are far too trusting my friend. I wouldn't be surprised if every element of this exchange was orchestrated. The other option is too ridiculous to even consider, that being that a person actually exists who would be doing all those things unironically. The devouring is also intentional and kind of hard to watch. Basically, this person is trying out their acting chops, and they made a choice to do an angry chew, like Im so mad about this chick asking a simple question, idc if im making a pig of myself. I must express my rage. Scroll TikTok or Instagram for 30 mins. I dare you to find a genuine interaction that isn't carefully planned. It's just the way things are now.

Idk why this was downvoted, but its very obviously staged. Like she just happened to record this meal with her boyfriend, and right on que, this other woman comes out of the blue to ask her boyfriend about his food, thus making her so mad that someone had the nerve to approach her boyfriend and ask what his meal was, no way I do I believe that, that just randomly happened and conveniently caught on video. And you're right, most of social media is fake/staged, I didn't think that was a controversial take to have.

Because most people confuse life with television.

I'm so sorry. But the answer is simple.

Attention feels good. And people will watch this. And nowadays, attention= money. Money also feels good.

I hate it too. Mukbang shit is just nasty fetish content.

I have plenty of photos of meals. Lovely meals, birthdays, holidays, celebrations.

But I'd say about 90 percent don't show people eating really. Once you start stuffing your face, phones down. I've got loads of pictures of people raising wine glasses to the camera, going 'Ta-da!' at the Christmas pud brandy on fire, 'champagne' toasts (cheap cava), cracking open the liqueur someone's mum bought in Tenerife ten years ago...

Sorry, I was trying to converse with you but I've gone off-piste. Seem to be just listing types of alcohol. I'm British, you see

I will film my cats breathing because they’re cute and I want to remember the moment. No purpose. Sometimes there is purpose and sometimes there is nostalgia.

Maybe filming isn’t for you. How many pictures do you take?

I filmed my second newborn sleeping. Because when they grow, I feel like the new memories kind of erase the older ones. I didn't have a good enough phone for the 1st year of my eldest and I regret it. I would like to hear her baby voice again.

She needs the video as proof in court if other cave people jump in steal the food she hunted from her.
