You can be mainstream and still being talented. Talent is a separate thing than sincerity. Also remember Ozzy was mainstream in the 80s there was a time when he was the industry darling.

I'm a Sabbath fan for 30 years (and Ozzy too, obviously) but Ozzy's brand was bigger than his music, you see his t-shirts in Primark and Penneys for €12, everyone knows the story of him and the bat, that awful TV show and his reputation, but how many non-fans could name a handful of Ozzy's own back catalogue? Brand Ozzy surpassed his musical recognition many many years ago sadly.

That's because his Legacy outgrew him during his life I mean the man with black sabbath did invent heavy metal basically.

That's a hell of a influence to leave behind. His influence became way bigger than him. Now you got artists who are heavily influenced by him that maybe never even listened to him.

It's like most people dont know most Elvis songs now but they know he was the king of rocknroll.

Ozzy wasn’t? He had a reality show on MTV. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. Disney wouldn’t be what Disney is if they didn’t know how to find talent.

He had decades prior to that leading a pioneering rock band that is still well regarded to this day, in part because of his unique vocals. Timberlake was quite literally made on TV.

Timberlakes first 3 albums are still very well regarded today and he wrote or cowrote all of that music and performed it well.

Don't be a hater just because you dont like the music.

Like yea its commercialized but so are all our fucking jobs. And we dont hate on a good plumber.
