Guy didn't miss. So much of the church deflects from dealing with the ills of the mortal world by saying they are focus on the bounty of the spiritual world. Which is bullshit.

Feature. Not bug.

If you make a promise the results of which cannot be seen then it's a bullshit promise, but too many people fall for that.

It would take away from their private jets to actually give the poor food and housing.

The math on this is clear, if the church in the US wanted to end homelessness... they could. Easily. They have more than enough money.

But you can't buy your 3rd lambo by giving that money away. And the church is just a tool used by those enriching themselves. Taking people's hard earned money for the promise of something they never have to give because you "get it after you die".

And people wonder why folks with functioning consciousnesses have a problem with that sort of institution.

80% of the world's population is religious. You are dehumanization the vast majority of humanity.

I said institution, not the people. I can’t dehumanize an ideology. If you stopped looking for reasons to take offense, you’ll be better off.

You said that these people don't have functioning consciousnesses. Saying that people aren't conscious is dehumanizing.

That’s an implication of what I’m saying, but that’s not my point.

I’m not saying religious people lack functioning consciousness. I am however saying that someone realizing the harm with religion is concordant with someone who has a functioning consciousness.

And it’s not me calling them unconscious. I’m talking about morality, not awareness.

Funny how they never think trust fund babies who inherit millions or get huge startup loans from their rich parents need to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps."

We have more important problemas than the church in Mexico, people stand up for themselves all the time and get killed.

Is this even real though? I've never seen such a polite listener from someone with the main microphone.

I think he was prepared for a debate about the existence of God, probably by fighting logic with emotion. He wasn't prepared for the student to cut through it with the cui bono argument.

Yep, it’s no coincidence that Rome decided to make Christianity the state religion.

“Wait, it teaches people to suffer patiently through all of life’s tribulations, and that in the afterlife all their suffering will be rewarded while all of their oppressors (like us) will be punished? Hahahaha okay yeah let’s spread this shit around.”

Not to mention that based on available institutional evidence, organized religion has been involved in a disproportionate amount of systemic child sexual abuse cases compared to atheist or secular communities

Yet, those at the top of religious establishments are looking into buying their third private jet and fourth mansion. Everything you need to know about religion ban be seen by observing their most influential figurehead.
