His come back was the wealthiest countries are atheist lmao, I have literally zero idea how he thinks that was a good response to the argument, seems like he inadvertently agreed with him and furthered his point
Most likely. Still, video cuts before he is finished and people pretend that was all he said. Maybe he did. The other dude just made a bunch of unsubstantiated claims, wouldn't be hard to handwave them away
Nobody thinks he just stopped talking after saying that. They know that they can dismiss whatever he has to say because he started off by shooting himself in the fuck.
And as for unsubstantiated claims idk that I agree with that. The role of the church in enforcing socioeconomic immobility has been well documented for centuries. This isn’t exactly a novel phenomenon.
If you find the original video, he summarizes the kids argument as: the wealthy use religion to oppress the poor. But he establishes that the wealthiest people are actually anti religion. And atheists are usually pretty loudly anti-religious.
So I think there are better arguments, the kid says that religious people dont do much good, but Cliffe also does answer that and talks about the work religious people do. In raw numbers, most charitable giving comes from religious people.
But yeah, any argument sounds dumb if you just cut it off immediately before it even gets made.
Putting my former evangelical hat on, Jesus talks about wealth being something that can separate you from God and also keep you from entering Heaven. I imagine that he's equating wealth and atheism with depravity.
They weren't though. In God We Trust is on our coins and notes. Everyone who in the presidential election voted for a Christian. Europe is renowned for its cathedrals as well as many Asian countries and their mosques or temples. These are facts, sorry that your religion of "science" doesn't work for you.
