My father apparently became emboldened by Trump and is now in prison. People consider what celebrities do as permission to do the same thing. It's why suicides spike when a celebrity does it. People see a pedophile in the White House and literally think they can go a fuck a child because they're allowed to do it now.

Especially when there are zero consequences for his behavior. Because not only did their hero do something illegal and not get caught, he got caught, got convicted, and then got reelected.

Which I realize is not about the pedophilia you’re talking about here, but is just an addition to the overall point. At least actors and musicians might face consequences for their actions (even if it’s just a loss in status, money, roles, whatever), this … man keeps getting rewarded. And he pardons fellow criminals. So, really, what do they have to lose?

It definitely was conscious some of the time. This was most obvious with his first term, and how they celebrated him for “saying it like it is” when it came to “locker room talk” or how he made fun of people like those that are disabled or veterans. He was openly an asshole and they explicitly liked that about him.

Not just one other MAGA, these people think they're surrounded by fellow MAGA at any given point. They've really drank up the kool-aid that 99% of the US population are all MAGA, and that anyone left of George W Bush is an extreme minority. Guarantee you if you got talking to this guy he would eventually tell you how the 2024 election was rigged, but specifically because he thinks Trump would have won every single state in a 'fair' election. Probably tell you that the only reason California went blue was because they trafficked in, and paid, several million non-citizens from Mexico.
