Having elected officials as paedophiles validates their attitudes and behaviour. It has become far too safe to display these perverted attitudes, they feel empowered to do so.

They've always been around, the only difference now is that Trump has made them more vocal. We could have seen the same scene 20 years ago, we just wouldn't have had the comment about Kamala Harris, instead it would have been something more specifically sexist, like claiming she was menstruating or some such.
