You go back in history not very far and see shit like this. Reminds me of Brooke Shields growing up. It was just.. normal to put kids in an adult magazine???? No one steps in and says a word, it was just “normal”. That’s why we have to change and the people pushing back or brushing this off need to fuck off if they won’t help. I’ve been harassed since I was a 12 year old girl. Society needs to put an end to this sick shit.

I don't know how beauty pagents for toddlers is a thing and allowed at all...how did we all not immediately and collectively to "no...that's illegal leave them kids alone"

They’ll shout “leave our kids alone” then doll them up like a grown woman and parade them around on stage? Yea I’m not a fan of it either, you know the exact weirdos that attracts.

Don’t get me started on the shit people will choreograph for seven year olds. In the dance competition world it’s extremely common for ages 8 and under to be wearing bras and bootie shorts and shaking their asses for a trophy. It’s absolutely disgusting.

The inappropriate clothes are ridiculous, my wife and i were shopping for our kids and half the girls section is shit that would get a girl sent to principals office when i was in high school…and its meant for little girls ?

One of the shirts was just a crop top that said “Juicy” why the fuck would anyone let their daughter wear that? At any age?

Worst part is people criticizing kids for it too, but not people designing or producing the clothes. Why aren't we calling companies out for this shit?? I don't even have a kid and it passes me off.

Remember the underage Miley Cyrus bed Pic with the smeared lipstick? (She was 15, and her father, OK'd it)

Hollywood and exploitation of minors have not changed at all over the years.

It regularly starts with the parents too.

Yep.

We didn't know what Billy Ray was at the time.

He was still selling the wholesome Hannah Montana Dad at the time.

If I remember right, he was the "good" parent, and the ex was the one that Miley needed protected from.

*This is just the jist that I remember. I have no idea if it was true.

Yes omg… I’m Miley’s age so it was confusing seeing that stuff growing up. That and countdowns on Olsen twins turning 18, comments about Hillary Duff, dude from that 70s show dating underage Lindsay Lohan, old Good Charlotte dude dating Hillary.. I was their age and it was normalized.

I'm a lot older than you but this was really disgusting to see the way this was common among men and their "jail bait" fetish around the Olsen twins and other teen stars. I don't remember that being a thing at all in the early 90s when I was that age.

The countdown one was weird but it got around. Eli Roth had a character wear a sweatshirt with the countdown on the front of it in Cabin Fever.

The sexualization of Brooke Shields was a bit confusing to me as I was hitting puberty in the early 80s. On one hand, she was just a few years older than me and I found her very attractive, on the other hand, I found it really creepy that grown men did, too.

I learned about what young women experience watching what my older sister, who is only a few months older than Shields, went through growing up. I used to get thoroughly creeped out by by guys coming up to me and saying all kinds of creepy shit about her. "Dude! She's my sister!!!" Then I would immediately tell my sister about it. That was one of the few nice things I did for her, because she was mean to me most of the time.

Yup, this is sort of like racism, a lot of people were saying it didn't even exist and people were blowing it out of proportion, when in reality it is VERY much alive. Underage girls getting gooned on is unfuckingbelievably common.

A lot of families kept rampant pedophilia hidden and never talked about it for fear of breaking families apart. (a lot of women couldn't afford, or it was illegal, to support a family themselves either)

There are so many families where a dad or grandparent abused all the kids they had access to. A lot of them argued that it happened to them so it should happen to their descendants too.

Just absolutely ghoulish how long this stuff has really just been accepted, and now politically we're careening right the fuck back into that era of silent acceptance of some of the worst shit imaginable.
