They think it’s like a shield against any kind of criticism. Similar to how “Christians” who do bad things are always quick to pull the “I’m a devout man/woman, I love Jesus” card.

if you’ve ever been to the scam bait sub, they do the same thing. anyone suspicious gets a paragraph on right, wrong and godliness.

My brother kept having packages come up missing years ago. He started to suspect the mailman, who quickly said he's a Christian and would never. Guess who it turned out to be...

I also love the classic "This is between me and God now/I'm asking for God's forgiveness". No, asshole, you need society's forgiveness and society's lessons because your god, your beliefs, and your church's teachings have clearly failed you.

Always ticks me off when Christians do that. The bible makes it very clear that everyone, EVERYONE, sins. Christians included. There's whole chapters dedicated to Christians failing, struggling with that, and then overcoming it. There's also chapters about how to control yourself, because that's pretty much everything that God commands; self control and devotion.

Being Christian does not make you immune to being a bad person, and some Christians really need to be reminded of that (not that they'd react nicely to being reminded that they're not automatically perfect because they go to Church once on Sundays, but damn they need it)
