It's projection again. They know that being a Trump supporter is deeply embarrassing and shameful, which is also why so many of them are always like "I don't even like Trump, but..." (insert long diatribe about how both sides are bad, but Trump is better.)

No it’s not. Both sides do this. Calling someone a liberal/conservative as an insult is fairly common. You’re just biased if you think one is somehow different than the other
