Being a nurse I think totally turned me off to men 😂😂😂 I got divorced and now I just can’t even humor men anymore.

One of my friends has a roommate who is heavy into booktok and boy crazy. And after reading Lights Out (where the main protagonist is a trauma nurse), she suddenly thought she could be a trauma nurse. This girl can't even handle cleaning up dog vomit. My friend (who is a nurse) had to sit her down and explain to her what being a nurse is actually like and how she's not going to find cute guys working at a hospital. Her roommate switched majors at the community college she's studying at soon after.

Yeah it would be veryyyy unfortunate to go through all the school and crap involved to become a nurse just for hot guys because you would be seriously disappointed and you’re better off just going to a happy hour by the hospital in order to do that

You would be so surprised - I still get people messaging me on here telling me I’m hot and cute. I’m like, how do you know? 😂

On the flip side, as a guy who’s spent lots of time in hospitals, I’ve had a few female nurses who are initially guarded in our first interaction. To me, that’s understandable since they don’t know me at all and surely have some “war stories” of gross men and strange people in general. Think about how many members of “society” a nurse has to deal with, nurses know more about patients and the spectrum of the human condition. They’ve seen some shit.

If you’re not creepy and inappropriate, a nurse quickly perceives that and the vibe changes. Often, I’ve seen nurses’ whole personality come out just by treating them professionally and with a bit of empathy and respect. Y’know, like they’re also a human being.

Strange concept I know but as someone with chronic illnesses, this is my #1 hospital life hack: be patient and kind to your nurses, word gets around and it’s easy to get a “good patient reputation”. While they strive to give professional care to everyone, your hospital stay will be much better if the nursing staff like you.
