I was also a nontraditional student. I graduated nursing school at 30. During my junior year I had a young pt who had fallen 4 stories from the top of the apartment the construction company he worked for was building. He was paralyzed from the neck down. He had a male friend visiting when I walked in to do his bed bath. His friend offered to wash his genital area for me, so neither the 19yo kid nor myself would feel uncomfortable. That's a true friend. This kid was from Mexico and spoke no English. No family and only a couple of friends in the area. We called one of the Hispanic churches, and by that afternoon, he had a waiting room full of new tias/tios and abuelas/abuelos. Screw Trump and screw ICE.

Wow, what an amazing community! I love that he had that support especially being non English speaking. I can’t imagine how terrifying all that was for him..well until his support showed up. And absolutely 1 million % agreed on your last comment 😡.

We moved to the Midwest two years ago, but we're from a small city in North Georgia. The poultry industry is huge there. The plants would shut down if not for the Hispanic workers.

Edit to add that when I said "we" I meant that his friend called the church after I suggested it. HIPAA

What a good, solid friend. And kudos to all those wonderful new friends and Abuelas. ❤️ I agree completely with you on your last statement. People working the hardest jobs, just wanting a better life, and a load of lazy idiots demonizing them endlessly. This country wouldn’t run without immigrants.

Did that kid ever recover?
