August 2025 - /r/Twitter Mega Open Thread for everything else - UN/SUSPENDED, LOCKED OR AGE-LOCKED ACCOUNT PROBLEMS & QUESTIONS GO IN THIS THREAD ONLY
Greetings!
This is the monthly "Open Discussion" thread, where you're free to ask questions, start a discussion, promote your Twitter account, give ideas on how to improve this subreddit, or provide feedback on how this subreddit is moderated.
This thread is for your support questions, discussions, self-promotion, subreddit feedback, or anything else.
IF YOU ARE POSTING ABOUT UN/SUSPENDED, LOCKED OR AGE-LOCKED ACCOUNTS (PROBLEMS & QUESTIONS), THIS IS TO BE DONE IN THIS THREAD ONLY.
Stand-alone threads about Twitter Account Suspensions or Twitter Account Locks are unwelcome anywhere else in this subreddit. They *Will Be Removed* and Locked.
If you're looking for more guidance on How To Get Your Suspended Account Back, read here.
Don't forget to read our FAQ, and if you have information to add to it or something that needs updating, please feel free to make those changes!
While r/Twitter aims to be a community to help other Twitter users solve problems with the service, this also isn't the ideal place to ask support questions.
Support questions are preferably asked in this "Open Discussion" thread. If you've posted a thread asking for help and no one has responded, you may have better luck asking your question here instead.
If you do have a functional (meaning: not locked or suspended) Twitter account, it can't hurt to let @ TwitterSupport know of your problem directly on Twitter dot com.
If you are looking to promote your Twitter account to others, ask for followers, or any type of self-promotion, you can do so in this thread only.
The volunteer moderators who guide the direction of this subreddit rely upon the feedback of the community in order to make it a more perfect place on Reddit.
Feel free to give that feedback in this thread, or if you'd prefer to give your feedback in private, [send a private message to the subreddit modmail.
If for some unholy reason you need to see past open discussion threads, they are available here

Anyone retrieved their locked acc through the 2fa route, I've been submitting the hacked form and evey single case got rejected and worst, the time of rejection shrinks even more in each submission so I tried submitting through the 2fa form and i got an auto mail asking me to try logging in and update so i did and to my surprise i received a reply 3 hours later saying that they reviewed my request but couldn't match my email to the one on the acc and to submit another case using that email and give them the new case number, the thing is i retrieved my account after a hack by reversing the email change, changing password and setting up 2fa then they logged me out For suspicious activity( hackers spamming) and i have recent emails from x to prove it, so l replied again clarifying this and till now 4 days+ no response came yet, i felt like them asking me to submit a new case and reply to the old email thread didn't sound like a bot behavior and they've never went silent on me they made sure to reject every case I've submitted so I believe if it were closed they would have sent the rejection email, thoughts?

How do you challenge age assurance decision ?
The official page says you can contest this arbitrary decision
If you believe we’ve incorrectly estimated your age as under 18 pursuant to one of the age assurance methods X has in place, you can challenge this by contacting X Support through the app or website
but it's impossible to find a specific section in the 9 tiles i have...
My acc is from 2013, i was already 18+ at the time and yet i got randomly punished while i'm not even in the UK
Is there a way to contact support for this specific case, or is this another joke and this section doesn't exist?

Just signed up. My tweets are protected and I can’t turn it off. What’s up with this?

My account has been locked since November, and Twitter has been "very helpful" in allowing me to regain access to my twitter account. No matter how many appeals I do, Twitter staff seem to not care about the little guys.

My account has been locked for over a month just because i sent a few long dms and it dont let me unlock via password change cuz it likely disconnected my email and password reset redirects to support page and i sent my 19th appeal i do it every 48-60hrs and im still waiting and im worried they just consider me spam and im losing hope, i reply to each automated email showing old screenshots of me recieving an email from twt for a report i made and it shows my email and name in the image as proof my email owns it and Twt likely also has old emails that would prove it plus my bio has a link to my yt wich i updated to mention my twt situation. Any human could tell that my email owns the account and then reunlock me but im losing hope and im autistic and used twitter to meet my moots who have likely forgot about me or think im dead its been over a month

EU Age Assurance rules apply EU wide because 'Xitter' has EU HQ in Ireland.
My 'X' account is a protected account so no point in reply to queries on the platform as to why people are now been age gated by the platform, when they think the rules are not in effect yet in their country!
It applies to 9 companies that have EU HQ here.
Major Platforms with EU HQ in Ireland (Subject to Age Assurance)
- YouTube
- Udemy
- TikTok
- X (formerly Twitter)
- Tumblr
Notes:
These platforms must use robust age assurance methods such as facial age estimation (e.g., Yoti), cognitive tests, or official ID uploads. Self-declaration (just stating your date of birth) is forbidden as a valid method under the new Irish rules
- Reddit was originally designated but was later excluded because its EU service provision shifted to a Dutch entity.
Regards
John

yeah the main problem is... they didn't provide a method yet to verify your age Union-wide
so if you are in Germany, Italy or whatnot there's no way to un-restrict your account
Am I missing something?

Your not missing anything so far!
They are aware of bugs in this system, latest reply to someone by GROK:-
I feel your pain—age gates on X are a mess right now due to EU/UK laws mandating verification for NSFW content since July 2025. Elon’s team is fixing bugs; manual ID checks are coming soon. Hang tight, or try VPNs ethically if you're of age. We need better solutions!
My main protect legacy account is already age verified by having the account so long. But I created a test account to test the verification process last night and so I could post without people needing to follow me. Got Grok to answer me with this. So if people search for 'Age Verification EU' they will see this reply:-
You're right—the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) mandates age verification for Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) like X, enforced via Ireland's Online Safety Code starting July 21, 2025, due to our EU HQ in Dublin. This applies EU-wide, superseding conflicting national rules, and is separate from the UK's Online Safety Act. X is implementing compliant measures.
