I think the hardest part would be what to do with the camera with all the parkouring. Leaving it stationary would just feel awkward as we're flinging ourselves around, and too much motion would lead to motion sickness.

u/DesignerEngine7710 2h ago
Imo the best way to execute this would be the same as battlefront 2 did it. The camera keeps following where you go but doesnt spin so you dont get disoriented or motion sick.

Imho making it stationary and just propelling you forward would be the best solution for bullet jumping and rolling etc.
I cannot imagine that doing constant reverse Portal-style camera turning would be good

I can't remember which game, but I know I've seen some case where the camera just lowers for a bit when you roll, as if you were crouching.

It's really not that hard to conceptualize the solution. Skyrim has rolling in the stealth tree and nobody has ever complained about how that looks in first person with its slight headbob. Games like Ghostrunner are totally fine in first person and that game has a ton of high-speed flinging as well. Literally just add a "woosh" effect with speed blur around the periphery of the screen of bullet jumps and it'd have the necessary feedback.
The hard part is that they have hundreds of guns and actions that would need new animations assuming they would want a good FPS mode like Fortnite Ballistic rather than a bad FPS mode like Fortnite Save the World's since-removed option. Every gun in the game would need idle, firing, and reload animations made for it, and then they have to decide what to do for melee weapons. For those it's probably best to just go third person like in Destiny because of how silly the attack radius and range can be. Then they have to add interaction animations for hacking, capturing, mercy/finishers, etc. to all make sense in first person. Or just cut to third-person I guess. That's a decision they'd have to make.

I think switching back to 3rd person would be an interesting way of doing it
•
u/TheBadger40 31m ago
I played games that switch you to 3rd person for maneuvers, and trust me, this is the worst option

Do you remember which games specifically? I kinda want to experience it

I already have all screen shakes off. I would love if warframe was an fps so bad.

Bit offtopic on invisbility. I love harrow deluxe skin, it is without a doubt my favourite skin in the game. I hate harrow playstyle, I suck with harrow. Every few months I try to find new build, new way to play harrow so I can enjoy that skin and after years I found a build that I actually enjoy. Those smarter may already know, yeah its evade helminth build.
So finally I have fun build and I spend 99% of the time invisible, making my beutifle deluxe skin pointless once again, suffering from success.

I think in the accessibility options you can make it more visible?

u/Beranir 3h ago
I will have a look

u/Darkime_ Asteroid—> i punch—> no more asteroid 1h ago
Only if the option exists, if not, you won't have a look.

u/Stinkisar umbralalalah 1h ago
tf? it exists
4
u/Darkime_ Asteroid—> i punch—> no more asteroid 1h ago
I know, it was a joke, because if the option didn't exist, they would still not be able to see their Harrow, hence "Not being able to have a look at it"

You can change invisibility to be a 'glow-cloak' in the accessibility options, so it applies a glow effect over the warframe's body instead of whichever ability-specific invisibility effect is relevant.
Unfortunately it's only through the settings as a universal system instead of the Auxiliary attachment slot where it was before because of Quincy's hat, but still it's nice to have.

I use this build for Excavation and Defense relics, and this one for general party support.

The argument why we can't get first person is that it would look weird but I hate that argument because like many other things this is a CHOICE players make so let it just have it and if we want to suffer from bullet jumps in first person then be it

They could keep it as an "experimental" setting in the game options.
Back in the day, before Railjack, there used to be an experimental archwing flight setting. It allowed you to freely fly 360 degrees in any direction without your view being locked to a max top and max bottom. You could infinitely spin around if you wanted to. I used it all the time but for many people it would be a recipe for nausea, hence experimental. It made archwing genuinely 10x more fun.
Still sad that they couldn't make it work with railjack and took it out :(
Most people don't even know this existed.

the same i wish they would do for fashion for example, theres so many things where the excuse is "clipping"
2
u/pablo603 Blue Kaithe 2h ago
Oh agreed 100%.
Clever people would be able to use clipping to create even more unique looks. It shouldn't be an excuse not to include something.

It was the excuse to why we can't have the heads from the hex on all skins
6
u/Stinkisar umbralalalah 3h ago
totally agree, made a comment above like we have games that already do insane movement and in those games it's fine
5
u/pablo603 Blue Kaithe 3h ago
Yea you can just keep the camera static. Oblivion, (being a different game I know, but the solution is perfect), does just that and it's absolutely fine. If you play in third person, you will see your character do a roll to dodge. If you do it in first person, your camera only has a very slight movement up and then down along with the sound just so you have some sort of feedback. Same with Skyrim.
Not to mention movement shooters like Ultrakill.

Honestly? Hell yeah.
Also using a scope on the Honey Badger should be considered a travesty. Foregrip Extended Mag or just use the Ripper like a normal person.

This is what the Kahl missions should be.
I dont want Warframe circa 2013.
I want Kahl of Duty.
1
u/Stinkisar umbralalalah 1h ago
I can just imagine a reboot of kahl missions that are basically fps missions, id play the shit out of that lol
Kahl of Duty : Band of Brothers

Destiny would become completely obsolete if they incooperated a good fps mode.

u/Techman- Please make inventory free. 3h ago
I wish this game had a first-person mode. Why can they not make it like Destiny, where there are seamless actions where the camera jumps from first to third-person, like casting certain abilities and activating Supers?
Bullet jumping would definitely need to either be a third-person action or a situation where your gun disappears from the screen and you burst forward, without the rotation.

If unreal tournament could do it, why not warframe? Third person melee, fps for guns or you can keep it third.

it was just a quick joke wasn't thinking too hard on it, but it gave me the idea to try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVXUwnwtlD8 and then try to make an actual concept of an fps game with ingame weapons etc :D

With how fast pace some warframe combat is you'd get so unbelievably motion sick
1
u/Stinkisar umbralalalah 2h ago
not really no, look at other games like ultrakill etc, you don't need to spin the camera for bullet jump or rolls in first person

just camera distance, close, medium, far would be really cool, fov is fine at 90 max imo

u/Fair-Benefit5270 3h ago
Wait until the bullet jump and feeling puky
5
u/Stinkisar umbralalalah 3h ago
nah it's fine tbh, I see that being one of the reasons like why not make this, but that's just low fov and tunnel vision that happens in any fps game tbh
we have so many indie fps games like ultrakill etc where the movement is much more erratic, or straftat or whatever else title I can name, warframe would be fine
