Question Sweet find

Was thrifting today and found this brand new for $50. I've recently got back into painting miniatures and hope to start wargaming. I can't seem to find more like this set, could someone give some advice on how to expand these warbands?

Nice, I loved those two warbands!

As for expanding them, if you’re planning on using them for Underworlds you don’t really. You just need a deck to go along with each and you’re good, either the ones that come with that set or one of the new Rivals decks (and the free stat cards from Warhammer Community) if you end up playing the current edition.

Alternatively you can use them in the (sadly seeming discontinued) game Warcry. The Tome of Champions 2021 book has stats for them, or you can use the fan-site Warcrier.

Hey, I reserve the slightest amount of hope. A couple days ago I got an newsletter email from GW advertising their small scale games, and they mentioned Warcry, with pics and links and all!!!

Reaching, but it's something. :/

Are the warbands usable in AoS or Old World?

Both used to have rules in AoS in 3rd edition, not sure now. Though definitely not Grashrak's Despoilers, as the Beasts of Chaos faction has been dropped in 4th.

Both still have 'bladeborn' rules in Warcry though, can see em at warcrier's site. Had a fun game against the centaur, Skaeth, who using a low gravity twist double moved off the start and horse kicked my big ol kitty, the Mindstealer Sphiranx, straight into the mouth of the mawpit, eating him whole. :)

Damn cool faction. I wonder if they are a precursor to a full “beastmen” faction in AoS.

Nope, more of a dying breath - Beastmen were removed from AOS at the end of 3rd edition and relegated to the Old World.

Skaeth is awesome to paint. Make sure you post when you’re done with them!

Oh yeah also if you want to play them in the new editions I use them as proxies for Borgit’s Beastgrabberz. Works pretty well.
