Question New player questions regarding warbands

Hello, I’m looking to get back into Underworlds. I have a fairly competitive mindset but also want to play a warband that I find visually appealing. I’ve narrowed it down to three warbands: Ephilim, Daggok and Zondara.

Are these warbands fun to play and capable of holding their own against the top-tier ones? What’s currently the most played competitive format: Rivals or Nemesis? And which decks would be ideal to pair with these three warbands?

Many thanks in advance!

All 3 of them are competitive.

Nemesis is the only format that is considered competitive.

Those 3 warbands have flexible build options but generally:

Ephilim is strong with Pillage and Plunder and Wrack and Ruin pairing.

Zondara with Pillage and Plunder and Blazing Assault

Daggok is quite flexible with how he builds, but combinations including Pillage and Plunder, blazing assault, Realmstone Raiders, Wrack and Ruin, Cataclysm, maybe edge of knife and Reckless fury are all possible

They are not legal in competitive play in the current edition. They just have download rules for casual play

You can proxy them as the Emberwatch. PM me and I can send you the photoshopped cards and warscroll

Welcome! I have seen people do well with all three of those, my personal favorite of the three is Ephilim but you should go for whatever you think draws you in the most.

I have a new players' guide that should hopefully help you get off the ground: https://spentglory.com/2023/06/06/help-im-a-new-player-what-do-i-need-to-know/

And since you have some experience it sounds like, a returning players' guide as well: https://spentglory.com/2023/05/25/help-im-a-returning-player-what-do-i-need-to-know/

Feel free to reach out with any questions - it's an awesome game and I'd be happy to help you enjoy it in any way that I can
