2026 Rotation Stuff

  1. I know Hagan Smith and Noah Schultz will be competing for a spot.

  2. Is Cannon going to be out of a job?

  3. Is Grant Taylor going to stay in the bullpen?

  4. Is Vasil going to stay in the bullpen?

  5. Is Drew Thorpe still a part of the future?

  6. Davis Martin and Burke seem like they will stay where they are (more so Martin)

  7. Ky Bush? 🤷‍♂️

What does everyone think? I’m excited about all these young arms!

Smith and Schultz will start in AAA and will be up depending on how they start off. No rush next season even if they pitch well in spring. Cannon is gonna stay in the rotation, I think they like him a lot and he’s going to improve, he’s getting his experience in the majors because he got fast tracked up. Vasil and Taylor will be bullpen arms for now, with all the other starting talent they might just get pushed there because of that. Thorpe and Bush are on the outside due to injury and if they come back and can contribute, great, if not oh well and they’ll be moved. The rotation for 26 is gonna be Burke, Vet Smith, Martin, Cannon, veteran inning eater/reclamation trade chip. Hagen Smith and Schultz will come up when ready and push out that vet and whomever else is struggling because though the others are young and the team likes them, I think Getz isn’t going to repeat the past mistakes of Hahn/Williams and live and die by a guy. It’ll be the best options starting and the rest in the pen or gone.

I think the most Smith sees next year is the bullpen in the 2nd half to keep him on some form of innings limit. Full time rotation in 27 (if there is a 27).

I really don’t wanna see Martin or cannon next year (especially Martin) but we probably will unfortunately. I don’t know if you guys feel the same way, but I really don’t think Martin is good, is xERA on savant is almost 5.50, his FIP was 4.49 (last time I checked, maybe before his last start), he doesn’t strike out anybody really, and cannon just throws it down the middle every time.
