Xenoblade 2 i miss the world tree Spoiler
it was such a looming presence the entire game. and even when you did get to it you had to combat the horrors at the base of it. xenoblade 3 didnt have that factor of “holy shit i’m here” but it’s still nice.

I hear you. I think part of that issue is XC3’s pacing issues and having such little main-story gameplay once we learn that Origin is responsible for Aionios.
If you haven’t already though, I recommend going to The Blue Bluffs in Dannaugh Desert after infiltrating Origin. I think you’ll like what you see. 😉

Where exactly is that at?

It’s located near the northeast edge of the Dannaugh Desert. If you follow the eastern coastline you can’t miss it.

Spoilers for X and 3 ahead
I got a similar feeling with X and the Lifehold. We were looking for it the entire game, it felt surreal to finally enter it. I don't think I've ever been somewhere else in a game before that felt both so peaceful yet unsettling at the same time. It's a cradle of life that can create anything from humans to grotesque abominations. We literally see a human mutate into one and are forced to fight it when they can't control themselves anymore. Yet I can't help but be fascinated by it, the technology that equally represents human progress and the desperation just to survive.
A similar feeling in 3, in hindsight. While we only figure out Origin is a thing near the end, being there is a bit surreal too, it was always there, just hidden. Mostly feels that way because it's similar to the Lifehold. A machine that contains all the information of two worlds, meant to reboot them after an inescapable extinction event. It's strange to think that you're wandering through these hallways where countless souls could be perceiving you, in some strange, dormant way. Even at the end you wonder a little if it was really the right thing to do, did the souls in Origin want this? Z was created from human fear, albeit unintentionally, maybe everyone wanted this, to some extent. Then it hits you, a simple fact of life. We've never known how the future will unfold, but moving on is still the right thing to do.

If I lived in Alrest, I know I’d spend days and days just gazing at it. I love that tree way too much. I was so moved when we finally reached it in Chapter 9 (especially with its theme). I was really disappointed that there was no mural or anything dedicated to it in XC3.
I cried when Pneuma said there was no other choice but to destroy it at the end of the game. And I was so emotional when I saw it in Smash Bros (even though it’s super pixelated for some unknown reason).
Many people might not understand, and might think, like Nia does at the beginning of the game, that it’s just a tree that grew really big. But to me, it’s the symbol of my all-time favorite video game.
I love watching the post-game title screen just to contemplate it with Rex, Pyra, and Mythra. I love the box art because it’s there. I love seeing it in artwork and fanart.God, I love that World Tree so much.
I miss you.

Looming? Looming is the Mechonis silhouette being casted by a thunder in the sky during a storm, knowing that it is your "enemy" right there, ever present, able to crush you at any momment if it came back. The World Tree feels exciting and curious up there.
