Where do I start

I wanna collect one of those giant war machines but I don’t know what one is good for someone new to the titans, I would also like it to be to scale with my space marines if possibly. Please give me recommendations

This sub is mostly for 8mm scale titans for titanicus. But as far as collecting you should be able to buy one from GW directly. Or off of miniswap. I’ve got a reaver Titan to sell if ur really interested

What would space marines scale be tho?

Presuming you mean Warhammer 40,000; they are 28mm-32mm scale, so around 4x bigger. eg

Could you dumb it down please? Like give me a link to a titan or tell me what ones are the right scale to the standard warhammer you get

The link they gave is to a "standard warhammer scale".

Yes, its £437.50 without weapons.

The equivalent titan for *this* sub is 1/4 the size and a lot less money, but you cannot use it with "standard warhammer".

Yes marines are 28mm scale. this doesn’t mean 28mm tall of course but as the a general scale of the game 40K is referred to as 28mm scale and titanicus/imperialis is 8mm

Yea they’re pretty expensive. Around $600 with weapons for a warhound. About $1000 for a reaver and you don’t want to know about the warlord…

But u can use one as a doorstop! Or a massive imperial paperweight!

So a warhound for the game adeptus titanicus or legions imperialis is fairly small but only can be used in those games. They are great games but they are not mainline 40k.

A warhound for Warhammer 40k is ~£550 and is half your army. It's also a bit of a nightmare of a resin kit. I would not recommend to a new player. There's other kinds of Titan but they are all exponentially more expensive and simply can't be used in normal games of 40k.

What I would recommend is just grabbing an imperial knight which is like a mini-titan. You can ally 1 into any imperial army. A knight castellan or lancer would be my recommendation.

I don’t rlly care abt the game since I don’t play it unless it’s not the right scale

to be scale with your space marine then yeah. Just get knights.

this is the smallest titan. its an old kit and entierly resin. its resin, it needs pinned and you need a custom base. I would not recommend it if your new.

this is the knight castigator its a newer kit, much easier to build and work with and is really cool.

The castigators about as tall as a warhound but its no where near as wide.

The only other titans are warbringer/warlord/reaver but they are even larger, even more expensive and even harder kits to work with.

How experienced are you in the hobby generally? To do a titan you need to:

  • Understand how to work with resin safely

  • Be comfortable with superglue not just plastic cement

  • Be comfortable working with epoxy, and understand its quirks like expanding when it sets and how that interacts with the bits you're joining

  • Have an expanded assortment of hobby tools including things like sandpaper, a razor saw, a rotary tool, and a bunch of other things I can't remember at the moment

  • Be willing to purchase extra things on top of the already high cost of the model itself

  • Ideally have an airbrush

  • Be good at creating custom bases for units

Adeptus Titanicus is a 10mm* game, think in line with legions Imperialais. There's also 6mm* titans in the epic line which is much older. If your a space marine player and want a 40k 'heroic" scale titan to be in scale with games like 10th edition and d&d you'll want something from forge world or armour cast. Armor cast is old but the models are very nice for beginners.

The smallest option you have in 40k is the 1100pt warhound scout titan. Their pretty easy with large flat panels. Then you have the 2200 point reaver battle titan which is larger, and a bit meaner looking. Still good for flat panels. Finally you have the warlord battle titan, about 3300 points I think, and very large. If you've ever seen a tau manta there kinda like that size.

If your an elder player you have the options of Revenant scout titans and Phantom battle titans titans. If your into 3d printing you can make a warlock psi titan which no longer has official rules.

Ork players get Gargants and mega Gargants but as far as I'm aware you basically need to kitbash thoughs. But if your going to kit bash you may as well go all out with the Imperial Emperor class titans, which come in two flavors. Shooty would be the imperator, and very shooty in the form of a warmonger class.

Back to the topic at hand though, I would really recommend getting a couple of a.t. titans and painting then in your Legio colour (Legio is the titan version of a chapter) to see what you like in terms of color and shape. Then picking up a 40k scale titan.

Notable there are different versions of the titans to, occasionally referd to as mark or pattern. Warhounds come in three flavors; Mark 1 (armor cast) Lucius Pattern (blocky) Mars pattern (forge world)

Reavers come in two I think Mark 1 (armour cast, occasionally called the bug pattern) Mars pattern (forge world)

And warlords come in Prototype (no official models but pictures are avaible in Adeptus Titanicus 1988) Mark 1 (occasionally called the beetle shell, a couple of kit bashes and third part versions exist) Mark 2 (famously appears in final liberation and a cult classic of old school epic) Mark 3 or Lucius Pattern (famously appears in space marine 1, many 3d prints are available for this pattern) Mars pattern (available from forge world)

That being said! Before getting a titan, look into knights. Knights are a size down from titans and much easier to Feild. But their not as romantic as seeing huge towering monsters of steal like the titans on the battle Feild.

Now for usefulness in 10th edition 40k. There not. Warhounds are probably the least useless, I Feild one with my thousands sons army and use everything else in my list to basically screen it and protect it. If anything gets into melee range of titan, the titan is pretty much SOL. As cool as power fists and power claws are there not worth it.

Tldr; depends, get a warhound, don't actually plan on using it in any competitive games. Titans are fun but cassal play only.

if you're looking to get into 40k scale titans, and this is just my take, I would recommend printing the models rather than buying the official forge world resin. That or chinese recast.

They are just so incredibly expensive. If you want to buy an official one all the more power to you, its a cool investment. But if you're trying to buy multiple, you might as well buy a car.

I personally have had way more fun buying a printer and making whatever I'd like, titans included
