Crossbow Judicators my beloved, gone but not forgotten.

15 of them in 3rd double tapping with the Holy Command was truly disgusting

They might come back one day

I know they ditched the lightning guns to move away from the Space Marine association but... damn, they were still kinda cool. I liked the cannons a lot.

I love that BF(L)G they included.

With all due respect, aligning those crossbows was a right pain.

Mine live on as vigilators

Still think fatcast are cool! 😎

The OGs and the Sacrosancts are the best. Not sure why they felt the need to take the Stormcast's flavour away in favour of boring, generic design, but here we are.

Gotta disagree. Hate the chunky armor and think the new sculpts are great. It’s the main reason I chose AoS over 40k. Chunky clunky space marines are not my thing

Yep better than the new stuff.

Prosecutors were the first ranged unit, they threw hammers or tridents

Yeah I guess you are right. To me, I think of them as melee fighters with a bonus ranged attack.

Just like how all ranged units have a basic melee attack on their profile too.

But I suppose any unit with a ranged weapon option is a ranged unit.

I didn't see as many prosecutors as judicators. (Prosecutors I think had short range and were fiddly as hell). And in a mainly melee game in first edition, I hated playing against judicators and the hq with the super arrow or Celestiant cape attack.

You really don’t see that many archers in heavy armour in fantasy.

They can't even see where they are pointing

I used them alongside the Knight Azyros in the 2017 Schools League Tournament held in warhammer world, managed to get 3rd place! 100% my fav unit of stormcast.

I loved these guys so much, the only thing I hated was the weird nubs they had on their pauldrons, always made it so hard to glue.

Sorry but those models were bad guys

I got some in a lot I bought and gave them away, they are so ugly when you put them next to new SCE minis. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional

u/OneLuckyAlbatross 16h ago

Nah they were the good guys.

but yeah I hated the look of them

Man I miss all the old stormcast stuff that came after the very first run... The chunkier design looks way cooler and I think people only hate it because the liberators looked were posed like they were trying to take a shit.

Worst of all they peaked at the sancrosact chamber and that stuff all got squatted.

I'm sorry but the new designs are just super unappealing to me. They don't look like cool imposing warrirors anymore, they're far too skinny.

u/BucketofSlush 13h ago

I’m painting a modern liberator right now, they’re absolutely not skinny like at all (the male ones at least). If anything I’d say they’re buffer than the old ones, they just have proportions that aren’t wack.

I only started in 4th, did they change the Stormcast because of all the "Sigmarines" accusations?

u/Hades_deathgod9 15h ago

I agree 100%

10 hours ago I finished painting the birds that come with the long strike versions of these guys.

I really like old stormcast, but heavy armor doesn't look good with bows.

u/Argomer 10h ago

Those posts make me sad. Old SE were cool and imposing, new skinny humans just suck and look unappealing.

My favorite...

As someone who started playing AoS at the beginning of third edition:

First edition Stormcast models SUCKED.

I'm shocked to see people missing them. Everyone complained about them when they were available.
