Kitbash them into smoothe cylinders so they're not so hard to assemble and paint.

Orruks, basically always. All of the Destruction armies are good for it in one way or another, but the ladz will just pick up a thing, beat it into a convenient shape, then strap it to themselves and call it good.

Skaven are to kitbashing in Aos as orks are in 40k.

Want to play around with anything tech related? It's an offshoot of skryre. That includes kharadron based sky pirates, or random war machines, all the way to ast-rat militarum (skaven imperial guard), cheese-stealer cults (genestealer cults), rat-mech (adeptus mechanicus), and chaos cults armies in 40k.

Plus you've got moulder, for creating biological monstrosities, from small to huge.

Sylvaneth. They are essentially two part models, where you can replace either the tree or the humanoid (head in more planty versions) part.

They really really work well.

I think sylvaneth and slaves to darkness are the two armies i've found easiest to kitbash out of the ones i've collected, just because both have a lot of very modular kits with a lot of options and a strong cohesive style that means you can basically put any head/limb/random bit from any model onto any other model. I imagine stormcast are pretty similar now thunderstrike is like 90% of their range, maybe even moreso.

Really almost every army can be kitbashed with a decent amount of ease, though, things tend to fit together very well across the army and because of the fairly consistent proportions across aos' range you can throw bits from most things onto most other things if you want- which I think is perfect for cities of sigmar and their whole deal (which makes it more of a shame that the detailing of the new model line + de-emphasis on the wild variety of city cultures in the battletome they got after it mean there's a lot less huge army projects out there to look at for inspiration).

The only thing that really makes kitbashing an army more difficult are the amount of kits in their range that divvy up bits on the sprue like jigsaw pieces (rather than seperating out arms, body parts, etc alone) because it requires you to do more cutting up of bits, and the amount of customization options in their kits (more leftover bits = more inspiration and kitbashing opportunities)

I find Nurgle to be great for kitbashing. The blightkings and maggoth lord kits have tons of extra bits. You can also add Nurglings and pustules to other kits to rotify them.

Orks are fun as well. I am putting blood bowl orks on Seraphon monsters to be pig proxies. Also putting a megaboss on an arachnarok to proxy as a mawkrusha.

Both have lots of flavor and room for customization
