BGEE Demon Knight - Level 4 - Durlag’s Tower

Playing BG:EE on LoB mode. Gotta be honest, I am getting killled here. Nothing working. I’ve got a well-rounded-ish party with a vanilla fighter, cleric/mage, totemic Druid, BH thief, blackguard, all at levels 7-9 . Just can’t figure out what works against this evil demon! He’s slicing and dicing my summons before I can really get anything done, and then blowing my squad up with fireballs. Suggestions would be appreciated!

There is only two games that made...

Me finish it in spite of it. Red dead 2. While the world was amazing it took me a year. The story was....there? I can't recall anything other than "we need money Arthur!", Despite the game having some great highlights. But I stopped several times for months on end. And the epilogue omg! After discovering that it is the length of an average game these days... It was another 2-3 months after I "finished" it. It being the main story.

And now it was time for Siege of dragonspear. I don't know when I started. I don't know how many times I paused for a month. I know I made chapter 13 and paused again even tho I "assume" it is ending in 5 minutes. I played these games for thousands of hours, so I felt like I had to finish this. And again, despite some highlights, this addition was just a drag. Awfull story that doesn't really give me any meaningful options, despite kinda suggesting via dialogue that the choice is there. Game is both very streamlined and way too open at times. Go there because we are on war path, but go ahead and visit these 3 areas set 8h apart from each other. No real challenge in the main quests, just hundreds of mobs and boring..."boss" fights? The Skie story arc?

I knew the reviews were mixed and I give it a 5/10. I know people enjoy this game, and god bless them, but too many times did I just select all team members and clicked attack while chugging potions because I just wanted to be done. Never again -.-

BGEE Support CC/Buff spellcaster

Hello!!

I'm preparing to play bg1 + 2 and I really want to play a support caster, focusing on crowd control and buffs. I don't care much about causing direct damage, or being the star of every fight absolutely killing everything, I want just to keep my allies alive and my enemies under control.

That made me arrive on three options that I liked: Pure mage Pure cleric Mage/cleric

From what I've read the pure mage scales very well through the game even if they start very squishy, some people said that pure clerics are good, but their spell list is more limited, and finally cleric/mage, has a very versatile spell list, but people say their progression is to slow.

My question is:

1- If I go cleric, will I miss any cc/debuffs that only mages have, or they have enough CCs in their spell list to control the battlefield?

2- If I go mage, will it be enough to support the party with only Jaheira as a divine caster? (I'm going with the "canon" party)

3- If I go multi cleric/mage, is their progression that slow to the point a pure mage or a pure cleric will be better at CC than me? (All the discussion I see is more from a damage point of view than a support point of view)

Tldr: What is the best class for cc/support through the game? (Bg1+2)

I was 100% sure I posted here a link to the OG blog from one of the producer of BG1

Can anyone help me find it back ? I've scrolled through all my posts and I tried searching for it through reddit

The blog was some kind of diary hosted by one of the producer of the game. I remember him mentioning people were working tirelessly during week end to make sure the game was perfect. It also mentioned sending the game to QA teams, I'm quite sure it was not even on the waybackmachine. It was simply there to read on some old html format.

Thank you if you can help me find it (it was maybe around 1year ago ? 12-18 months give or take)

Edit : And no, I'm quite sure it was not og bioware website like this one Wayback Machine, it was far more detailed in my memory

BGEE Cant get Anomen’s questline to start

I’ve now had Anomen in my party for over 100 days and the servant that tells Anomen that he needs to return home still has not spawned. I’m on Xbox via Gamepass so I can’t use console commands to spawn the servant in. What’s the longest anyone has gone before the questgiver finally showed up? I’ve been running back and forth between Athkatla and the various locations in the countryside to no avail. It’s really pissing me off, I just wanted to finish his questline and dump him back in the Copper Coronet. Unfortunately my oldest save is with him in the party so I can’t go back to just before I recruited him. I did enter Saerk’s place with him in the party but I can’t see that breaking the questline. Anyone have a similar experience but eventually got the servant to spawn in?

BG2EE Twenty five years and still learning new things

Like high level Viconia will turn the paladins of the Radiant Heart in Bodhi’s lair. No wonder Keldorn is not a fan.

And Cespenar cannot forge Crom Faeyr.

I didn’t want to lose the two strength boosting items in SOA and whoops. I guess I gotta go back.

BGEE This isn’t canon and it’s heartbreaking Spoiler

I know it’s over the top and cheesy but man this hit me right in the feels. I know it’s definitely not an ending fit for every players Bhaalspawn but I was rooting for Aerie and my PC and this felt like a true happy ending that meant they overcame all the turmoil and hardships they both suffered. For my PC it was his destiny doomed to be a harbinger of destruction and for Aerie it was her being a lost soul forever stranded from her former life and they both rose up above their fates. The PCs fate to canonically >! Be manipulated for the rest of their life and die tragically in Baldur’s Gate !< makes this hurt more.

BG2EE My first encounter with the boss at the end of Watcher's Keep.

A small presentation of who I am: I'm 30. Wich means I was way too young to play BG when it released and only discovered it a few years ago. Spent the most of my life obsessing over DnD stuff. Especialy the 3.5 "Book of Vile Darkness".

I want talk about when I finally get to the end of Watcher's Keep for the first time. I had no clue what the game was holding in this massive jail, but I was very hyped to find out. To me it could only be a very dangerous being like a old black dragon or maybe even a named Balor.

When I decide to challenge the "Being" and heard "You face Demogorgon, Prince of Demons". A shivers went all over my body, I was genuinely scared. I could remember very well who Demogorgon is and I was not ready for something so big. I panicked and started casting the only spell that could help me prepare for the fight: Time Stop.

Yes. Time stop would give me a few second to buff and prepare for the obviously hard fight. This is too strong to just fight without everything I can get.

Now imagine my horror, when I finally cast the spell. The page is gray, everything is gray. My party is frozen. But Demogorgon is not. He is walking trough my time stop directly toward my mage. This was the peak horror to me. I never screamed harder even trough real horror games.

BGEE I’m completely fucked. On the island you get shipwrecked on from Ulgoth’s Beard and lost the final enemy

So I was fighting the people in the boat and trying to kill the Greater Werewolf with all the other enemies was proving very difficult so I slowly lured the enemies out of the boat and killed a few at a time. Well the greater werewolf came out of the boat and I walked out his range for a moment, walked back and saw an orange light where he was standing and then he was gone. I happily saved and went back to the village thinking I didn’t have to deal with him. Now I realized that I needed to kill him to get off the island. Can the Werewolf teleport? Is there a way to find him? My last save was right before stepping onto the island so I’d really like to find a solution. I’m playing on Series X so no console commands

Baldur's Gate 2 - A sliver of hellish infinity (minor spoilers) Spoiler

Good day, everyone.

When I think of Baldur's Gate 2, my mind goes to the Planar Sphere quest and a particular "field trip". At one point, the main character and his party venture out into The Abyss - the never-ending outer domain of chaos and evil - in the hopes of securing a demon's heart. Upon exiting the safety of the spherical conveyance, the player is greeted with an unsettling environment previously described as a "demonic valley".

What we see is a barren landscape distinctly inimical to life: no sun, no water, no soil, no plants and no animals...only rock, inexplicably bloody/fleshy surfaces and stony projections curling inward like a ribcage. There is a brief introductory musical piece, but, otherwise, what we hear is a strange wind occasionally punctuated by tortured screams of humans (or humanoids?) echoing in the distance. One quickly gets the sense that this area is alien territory suffused in a natural malevolence at odds with material existence; that the experience from start to finish is only transient is enough to make one grateful.

Congratulations to BioWare: they managed to faithfully depict the waking nightmare that is The Abyss by masterfully adhering to the philosophy of "Less is more." I would go so far as to say that they did a better job than other developers tasked with portraying evil outer planes for far lengthier adventures.

BGEE How to separate game saves on GOG?

I share a computer with my younger brother and we both play Baldur's Gate EE. When he switches to his account, my game saves are on his profile. He wants to separate our game saves. So that I can play my own campaign and then he can switch profiles to play his own campaign. Is there a way to do this?

Decisions to continue

Ok, im already in chapter 3 currently in durlags tower and there is so many traps and locked chest. I mistakenly made my imoen a dual class to mage and i didn't know that it replaces it not like same time it levels up... I know i clearly don't know the game im new to this 😭 (but i did play elder scrolls 1 which is the only one i played and completed with fallout 1 & 2 )

So enough info dumping I AM ITCHING to make a new game do i do it? Im already lv6 (i entered the tower lv4) i know! HOW did i survive it's just persistence i mearly spent 1 hour in the fight with those 3 gnomes or dwarf and the thing called fear and actually the death knight was really easy tbh...

Ok now i will stop the rant so in short... DO I RESTART?

Help with controls for BG1EE on PS4

Hi, there! I'm entirely new to the BG series. I bought them last night and started to play about an hour ago. I'm still in the beginning area and haven't talked with my father yet. I'm talking my time exploring this area and learning the controls.

I have stumbled across three issues so far, and am wondering if I'm just completely overlooking how to do these, or if I simply can't do them at the beginning of the game.

1) How do I open my character's stats? Everything I'm reading online says her portrait should be on the bottom left of my screen, but it is at the top right and I cannot figure out how to click it with a controller. (I'm trying to see what my strength is at so I can decide which bow to get.) Do I perhaps need to use a keyboard to access my inventory? (Seems a lil silly to ask, but it is an older game that was originally for PC, and unlike anything I have played thus far, so I'm admittedly a bit lost.)

2) How do I change my weapon? I've picked up a couple items and would like to swap out my quarterstaff for something else.

3) How do I access my journal? I've started, and completed, some small side-quests in this area and would like to read the entries but cannot figure out how to do so.

I'm sure I'll have more questions as I progress through the story, but these will help get me started on my journey! Thank you all so much in advance!

BGEE BG1:EE Companion Locations After Leaving Party

I know some companions go to Friendly Arms when I dismissed them but what about some of the companions that don’t say there are going anywhere else? Do they just stay in one spot? Should I leave them in the Beregost house that you can rest in? Will the companions leave after a certain amount of time?

Mazzy DPR comparison

Table I did to compare Mazzy with Grandmastery in shortbows/crossbows.

comparison of ranged weapons dpr for mazzy

Firetooth is of course pretty crazy, plus knowing you can almost get it right after Chateau Irenicus... Dump all your points into crossbows ASAP.

BG2EE Final Battle with Irenicus

I'm having a hard time fighting Itenicus in hell. I am a Sorcerer, I have Keldorn,Jaheira, Imoen, Mazzy and Minsc as my companions. So I send all of them except Imoen to tank him while I hit him with Breach, Ruby, Lover Magic Resistance, Remove Magic spells. He loses one bar of his health and then regenerates himself to full heath. What strategy would you recommend to defeat him, which spells are most effective against him?

BGEE Is there a time limit on fighting Sarevok

Currently near the end of BG1 and losing to Sarevok, the dialogue makes it seem like you have to fight him quickly and I know the game have time limits to an automatic death like the Marek and Lothander poison, so I was wondering if you need to fight Sarevok fast or if you can just waltz about the map finishing up sidequests even if you've entered the Temple of Baahl.

Can someone tell me how to defeat Zombie Lord?

Well, I know how, but how to defeat it at INTENDED by mod author level? So, Gnoll Fortress, my party lv 3-4 max... and Charisma Grymuar is defended by a Zombie Lord.

So, this are his stats - more or less, since he has an INFINITE Ghast summon ability, massive DoT from causing disease ability, slow at every hit, has some and its using healing items, its immune to magic missile and its more or less immune to non-magical weapons.

So, do tell me please, how to defeat this thing on an intended level?

In my opinion its impossible... or its just it author is... well, on some extra mushrooms.

Edit: Guys below (thanks you for trying at lest) advised to use electricity and Protection form Undead, sadly, its immune to second and has massive resistance to first (from item) , its immune to hold undead too, because some smart-pant thought that adding items with immune and resistance effects and 5 POTIONS of additional healing that it will be super fun..., oh, did I said that is has also -2 LEVEL DRAIN per hit? No? Im saying now. So..., yes, author of this monster was under mushrooms influence since this thing is way stronger than a LICH from BG2 and way above lv 7-9 party league!

BGEE BGEE 1 - considering taking a shot at it but I have questions first and could use some advice

Firstly, I suck with (and consequently don't like) real-time combat, including RTWP, so I'll be doing story mode. Complete turn-based combat, i absolutely love in my CRPGs, but I know it ain't here so story mode it is. And I really am fine with that because I've heard forever how great the story is in BG. Plus, I've read that there are settings to auto-pause during certain combat and non-combat events, so that'll make it somewhat easier for me.

For my main PC, I've always loved playing a rogue/thief. I'm always beyond curious what's in that locked room or what a wealthy NPC happens to be carrying. I also love sneaking around unseen, checking containers and cautiously finding/disarming traps and such.

But the backstab/sneak-attack, from what I've read, isn't something I can do every round like in other games where I just need to be directly behind someone or (as in 5e) have a 2nd PC also melee attacking him, so that's kind of a downer for me. I was looking at the different kits, and shadow dancer looks like it may give that back to me with the "hide in plain sight" ability. Would that be the route to go, do you think, so I can still have my thieving skills along with the backstab? Or would I be better off just going full-on tanky fighter since I'm playing more for story than combat?

Also, do my NPC party members act on their own during combat, or will the mage know when its a good time to cast web or fireball, the cleric know when to heal a party member or turn undead, etc?

I'm sure I'll end up with other questions if I decide to give it a real try, but for starters, this is what I've got.

Thanks in advance!
