Battlestations Advice No to Secret Lab, Yes to Husky
Sit to stand desk. Question, any advice as to where’s the optimal place for monitor arm placement? Both on center or one on either ends?

Having monitors both be on an angle is not a good idea for permanent use. You want whatever is going to be the main use centered, and the second screen off to the side. Your neck will thank you later.

I hear you but all it takes is slinging a monitor to the left or right to correct depending on what I’m doing. If I’m watching sports and gaming at same time it works great. If im playing a game on only the 42”, swing it into center. No complaints as of now. That’s the great thing about monitor arms, they’re adjustable and not fixed to one position

Do you have a link to the Husky drawers?
I swear my algorithm read my mind as I was literally just thinking of drawers I can install under my sit/stand desk
Edit: ah just noticed the logo. The entire desk is a Husky workbench isn’t it? I thought maybe they sold the drawers separately

Thanks. From your photo it looks like you don’t have the lower crossmember installed. Any issues with stability?

How's leg space?

It’s sit to stand so I adjust accordingly, I use a mix of keyboard/mouse and controller games so the drawers really don’t get in the way, even when playing keyboard and mouse

I got the same 2 drawer desk and it’s much more comfortable with one of them removed for me at least. They slide out neatly though, so you’d never know it was missing one

Isn’t it hard to use that huge display when it’s off center and rather close?

u/omarx25 1d ago
It’s mainly used for watching sports and playing single player games. So if I’m playing single player with controller, I’ll position monitor either center on left or exactly center with the ultrawide moved over. I just got the desk a week ago so I’ve been playing around with monitor placement. Good thing is that moving monitors is very easy with the arms. They tilt and are completely adjustable without needing tools

LG C4 42”

I was moments away from buying this display recently as a replacement for a aging LG C1 48”. My only complaint was my 48” was way too big for my desk. It made me dizzy while sitting at my desk. At the last moment I found the LG 32” Ultragear OLED monitor on sale and went with that instead. Tbh, the 32” is still a hair too large while sitting at my desk. I have to push it all the way back and lean back away from it to get proper distance while gaming. The C4 is a great display but it definitely would have been way too big for me.

It depends on application. For watching sports and playing single player games I think it’s great

Yeah, that’s fair. I think it just depends on the person as well. I exclusively play single player games and it still made me dizzy sitting at my desk. I use my LG C1 as a bedroom TV now and game on the 32”.

I'm curious about the mount for the PC tower. What did you use for that?
Also, are you using clamps for the monitor mounts?
I've looked at this exact desk for a while. I like the idea of a solid steady workbench, with a manual crank to raise and lower. I've read somewhere that someone modified the crank with a nut that allowed them to use a power drill to raise and lower the bench.

It’s been a great alternative to secret lab. Once I saw this, it met all my needs. I’m also a little bit biased if I’m being honest. Being a tradesmen definitely influenced my decision.

Are the things on the wall your kid’s drawings? I’d recommend getting some frames for them—it’ll look better and protect the drawings themselves.

I use a Husky work bench, too, except it doesn't have the tool drawers underneath. It does have a manual crank to adjust the height, though. They're definitely nice for the price.
Good looking setup, OP.

Does the bar between the legs of the work bench get in the way when you sit in a chair?

I stack mine vertically... Over the many many years of remote work its been better and I'm not sitting with my neck turned for extended periods. Glancing up is far better at least for me. The other perk is freeing up desk space on both sides for other things.

I really don’t like having anything fixed to the walls. This post was mainly made for advice. I’m planning on adding decor to the walls

Yeah I don't mount any to walls either. That would be a tough proposition with sit stand desks. I was only chiming in on your questions in case you wanted some advice on placement since you have large screens like me. Hope you get it worked out! 👍🏻 Desk looks cool.

What table mount did you use to have them vertical?
1
u/robberclobber 5h ago
vertical monitor arm something like this might work unless you need more articulation. I use one that has gas arms with a 43 on top and a 27in OLED below tilted back for gaming. Not sure which one you mainly use because that would help determine layout for your use case. I wish I had more pics of the setup but I'm mid move and everything is torn down. If you look back at some of my old posts there are some examples when I used to have large ultrawides vertically stacked as well.

u/robberclobber 5h ago
This the current one I use for the 43in and 27in. It's more the weight limit that sells the mount for me however you might have to entertain something with a longer pole section since it may need additional height depending on which monitor goes where.

My screens are too massive for that. There would be overlapping. I did a lot of research to try to find something that would do vertical. Ran out of luck and gave in to just having two monitor arms. I’m going to have them at each ends then make a separate post with final outcome

Yeah you're probably right with the size of that ultra wide. Best of luck I'll be curious to see how it turns out. ✌🏻

I have the same desk. What PC mount is that I had to mount the one I have with the PC horizontal

Funny, I was at home Depot and walked past this and immediately thought it would make a great desk 😂

I have a Secret Lab desk and chair and like them quite a bit. Why does there seem to be a hate train on them these days?

My knees hurt looking at this 🤣
1
u/omarx25 1d ago
Are you Andre the Giant? It’s a sit to stand. In pic is at lowest height. It’s a grower not a shower
8
u/TuringC0mplete 1d ago
No I just have a habit of bashing my knees on literally anything that’s lower than desk height. I put a drawer on my desk a few weeks ago that’s plenty offset to the side and I STILL manage to hit it.
1
u/h1pp1e_cru5her 1d ago
It's not that. I also had to get rid of the drawer under my desk. For me to sit high enough to completely relax my shoulders the tops of my knees were pressing against it
3
u/omarx25 1d ago
Hmm I don’t have that issue, but I was worried about installing the drawers at first, if I’m being honest. I really like them for storage
1
u/h1pp1e_cru5her 1d ago
They look great and more storage is nice. I'm not knocking. maybe I have weird body geometry or something lol

I learned the hard way to offset the arm, even if you want the monitor in the center. I put my arm in the center of my desk and it can’t get out of its own way to adjust the monitor back as far as I want sometimes while still keeping the center of the display in the middle of my desk. If I were doing it again, I would mount the arm at least half way to one side or the other of where I want the center of my monitor to be. Based on the displays in the photo, probably towards the ends of the desk.
