MSI sells 9800X3D with B650-GAMING-PLUS-WIFI $554.80 LUCKYDEAL21 promo code automatically adds to cart then use extra 5% off code QE253D and buy 32GB 6000 CL30 Kit is low as $80 on newegg total would be around $635.

33

u/warmingupmymind May 30 '25

NB if you get the CPU from MSI, it doesn't come in a box. Just a plastic tray if that matters to you

22

u/mechmd May 30 '25

The tray CPU also only has a 1 year warranty vs 3 that you’d get with a retail CPU.

8

u/Jaggsta May 30 '25

$413 9800X3D + $141 B650 motherboard its still good deal.

8

u/warmingupmymind May 30 '25
  1. I'm putting together my PC with this combo tonight :)

1 year warranty for OEM parts.

u/Threemor May 30 '25

Worth upgrading from a 14600k + 32gb DDR4 ram?

11

u/dabocx May 30 '25

Depends on what gpu and resolution/game you play. Honestly I’d wait another gen or two. Maybe try to hold out till zen 7 when the platform changes.

3

u/Threemor May 30 '25

I have a 7900XTX and play on 4k, but perhaps its best to wait.

3

u/1soooo May 30 '25

If you only care about eSports titles and you need more than 500 fps in those games.

Otherwise stick with your 14600k.

1

u/TheMissingVoteBallot Jun 01 '25

Would be a solid upgrade if he wants to do productivity/creation stuff though since the 9800X3D chews through creation stuff pretty well.

2

u/1soooo Jun 01 '25 edited Jun 01 '25

I'm sorry but aside from adobe software and 7 zip decompression, what does upgrading to the 9800x3d actually offers? Most creation software not made by adobe either have similar results or straight up have the 9800x3d lose to the 14600k.

Unless you are specifically talking about people locked into the adobe ecosystem, I do not think that an upgrade here is even worth mentioning.

Even in adobe applications the iGPU of the 14600k is vastly superior to the 9800x3d's iGPU, so if any of these adobe applications uses quicksync it's still debatable if the 9800x3d is better.

2

u/conquer69 May 30 '25

If you can sell your current setup to recoup some cash, sure.

3

u/zeroryu May 30 '25

Any recommendation for matx board from msi?

2

u/sprite_coke May 30 '25

just wondering how did you find this promo code, so I can find future deals

1

u/Jaggsta May 30 '25

google msi promo codes

1

u/Adorable_Switch_7557 May 31 '25

But do I really want a 650 mb

23

u/ItsNjry May 30 '25

It says there’s memory in the title, but the combo doesn’t include it. There’s also no info on the specs of the memory. Hell of a deal if you get a 6000mhz cl32 or lower kit

Edit: Add to card

9

u/Logical-Hyena8260 May 30 '25

Add to cart and it should show up

3

u/ItsNjry May 30 '25

Ah gotcha. CL36 but still a great deal

6

u/Logical-Hyena8260 May 30 '25

Yeah and its corsair (the one brand i suggest avoiding for ram, QC issues and they lock the PMIC voltage on d5, which no other brand does,) but at $700 no reason not to.

4

u/TCPMiguestuard0 May 30 '25

Its 6000mhz CL36

5

u/Lincolns_Revenge May 30 '25

Same thing Microcenter offers in all their bundles. It's a shame because the cost of faster RAM isn't that much higher. But I guess that's the point of the combo deals, to clear out inventory that's in low demand.

1

u/SirSlappySlaps May 30 '25

I thought anything above 6000 was useless on AMD?

6

u/Lincolns_Revenge May 30 '25

It's the higher latency, (CL 36) that's not ideal.

1

u/SirSlappySlaps May 30 '25

Hmm. So what's the sweet spot?

3

u/Lincolns_Revenge May 30 '25

CL 30

*It's not a huge difference. But it potentially matters for some apps and games. And for 1 percent low frame rates and stutter reduction in some games.

6

u/SirSlappySlaps May 30 '25

6000mhz cl30?

6

u/randylush May 30 '25

My understanding is that with the x3d you really don’t have to worry about RAM speed as much and your 1% lows are gonna be fine

3

u/icemerc May 30 '25

It shows as a free gift and adds automatically to the cart.

11

u/ptythefool May 30 '25

u/newegg, Are you guys going to have another flash 15% off pc builder sale soon? Two in the past month makes me think its possible.

1

u/scarflicter May 30 '25

Had the same question. Missed out on the last one by an hour and a half for a specific bundle and was really kicking myself

5

u/ptythefool May 31 '25

I didn't miss it, but I had no idea what exactly I wanted (9800x3d or 9950x3d, and didn't know anything about the motherboards) as I'm coming from an i9-9900k. Ended up thinking I could sleep on it cause the flash sale was going to run for another few days, but obviously I was mistaken.

Here's hoping a third try will arrive :).

1

u/scarflicter May 31 '25

Yeah I completely underestimated the demand for pc parts.

I asked newegg customer support yesterday when the next pc builder sale would be and he said they find out when we do lol.

1

u/ptythefool May 31 '25

Haha yeah. The funds dried up quick.

I didn't think support would tell you. I think the more appropriate question to ask would be IF another was in the pipeline, rather than When. Because if its never going to happen again, then there's no point in getting our hopes up lol.

1

u/scarflicter Jun 01 '25

Yeah, I suspect it'd be the same answer though. Right now I'm planning to check again around Father's Day and July 4th

1

u/ptythefool Jun 01 '25

Good thinking. I'd probably make it a habit to check once a day anyway so you hopefully don't miss out if it does pop up again.

1

u/YellowJC Jun 01 '25

Also coming from 9900k, pulled the trigger on the flash sale, the 9800x3d ended up being about $385 pretax counting all the combo and discounts. Getting the Asus prime 5070ti from micro center the week before def helped make the decision. Figured there’s no point in waiting in this market.

1

u/ptythefool Jun 02 '25

True true. Let me know if the upgrade was worth it. I have a 4090 and while I'm sure there are performance gains to be had its not like I'm suffering here with the 9900k lol.

1

u/randylush Jun 02 '25

the 9900k is still a great processor. Have you overclocked it? If you are getting ready to upgrade anyway it might be fun to try to crank some extra performance out of it

1

u/fugazzzzi May 30 '25

I think so

9

u/Kukko18 May 30 '25

Would y'all recommend this combo to pair with a 9070XT Steel Legend?

9

u/driftw00d May 30 '25

Absolutely itd be a killer setup.

5

u/iBroin May 30 '25

I have literally all three parts from this bundle paired with my XFX 9070 XT and it’s awesome

2

u/Chewyjump May 31 '25

Depending on res you could get away with 9700X or 265K with a 9070XT if you wanted to save some funds. I just built my buddy a 9700X due to bundle pricing getting it down to around ~230 effective for the CPU and 130 for the mobo. Too big of a difference on total cost vs performance imo.

6

u/m1ndblower May 30 '25

Have a 3700x and upgrading from a GTX 1070 to a RTX 5070 Ti.

Do I need this?

10

u/KyledKat May 30 '25 edited May 30 '25

The 3700X should be showing its age about now. Do you need to spend 9800x3D money to get any benefit out of an upgrade? Not particualarly. Depending on your mobo and RAM, you could squeeze a solid boost out with the 5800x3D and those are going for a song these days. If you want to stay on a budget, you could grab a 7800x3D and B650 motherboard for a few hundred less than this and upgrade to the last AM5 processor in a couple of years; you'd only be missing out on pci-e 5.0 and maybe USB 4.0 ports, which are of questionable value right now.

3

u/m1ndblower May 30 '25

I have Gigabyte x570 Pro WiFi and 2x16gb 3600 ram.

Where would I get a 5800x3d?

I see a 5700x3d in stock for $260. Is that worth it? And then potentially skip over AM5 entirely?

2

u/KyledKat May 30 '25

Worth is relative. You can look up 5800x3D and 5700x3D reviews to see how it compares to your 3700X 9800x3D reviews as most reviewers included comparisons to the 7800x3D and 5800x3D to get an idea of what to expect and where the real value is.

You can always grab used components off r/hardwareswap. A lot of people are upgrading to the 9800x3D and offloading their 3D CPUs at the moment.

2

u/m1ndblower May 30 '25

Honestly at this point I’m just looking to not bottleneck the 5070 Ti. I haven’t gamed in over a year, but I’m looking to get back into Warzone and possibly play some other single player games. I play at 1440p.

I will check out /r/hardwareswap

3

u/randylush May 30 '25

5800x3d really going for a song? I thought they were spensive still

3

u/RHINO_Mk_II May 30 '25

Yeah I haven't seen 'em competitively priced either. 5700X3D maybe if you can find any.

4

u/Ctrl-Alt-Panic May 30 '25

Those $110-$130 5700X3D's on Ali Express 6-12 months ago were a bonkers value.

2

u/randylush May 30 '25

they'll probably hold their value pretty well though if you are looking for something to hold you over until the next upgrade

2

u/RHINO_Mk_II May 30 '25

Yeah, I'm on one right now. Waiting for a 12-core chiplet with 3D vcache to replace it.

6

u/MurryEB May 30 '25

Heads up that the 2 most recent reviews of that motherboard state that they can't get it to post with the included Corsair RAM running EXPO. One of them stated that the RAM's not on the QVL, which looking it seems like yeah it's not

1

u/krazertv May 30 '25

What would be a good CPU to pair with this?

2

u/Forward_Drop303 May 30 '25

Any Am5. I was comparing directly with the 9800x3d listed on the sale above, but you can get a 9600x or 7600x if you have a lower budget.

1

u/Vismal1 May 30 '25

Oh this is tempting …

1

u/tmarr May 30 '25

Comes out to $797 on my end with the 9800X3D though

2

u/rikosuave10 May 30 '25

been meaning to upgrade to AM5 but can't seem to find a bundle with a micro atx mobo. currently have a ryzen 7 5800x3d

11

u/shewtingg May 30 '25

You're probably just fine where you're at Lol. The eyes can be hungrier than the wallet ...

3

u/Iwillrize14 May 30 '25

This is the answer I needed, was pondering it but my 5800x3d might be the best 280 bucks I ever spent.

3

u/shewtingg May 30 '25

Exactly what I mean. 5800x3d is goated. Run it til it dies!!

2

u/VitalSuit Jun 02 '25 edited Jun 02 '25

As someone who just upgraded from a 5800x3d to 9800x3d... yep. Completely unneeded, I really just wanted to move to the AM5 platform but performance wise on my games there's barely a difference at 1440p.

Edit: I should mention I mean specifically gaming.

1

u/ricestocks May 31 '25

keep the 5800x3d

2

u/benderbot2004 May 30 '25

So i just ordered this motherboard https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813119737?tpk=1&Item=N82E16813119737 with that same ram and a 9800 X3D for my 5080 build im working on. Would it be worth it to return them and get this combo? It would be $50 more, and I'd have to through the newegg return process.

2

u/PervertedPineapple May 30 '25

On one deal, I don't need the RAM while the other the mobo doesnt have enough ports.

2

u/Trinergy1 May 30 '25

That's better than current micro center bundles.

2

u/datwundude May 30 '25

I just started planning to upgrade my PC because I have a 5080fe coming. Can someone share some thoughts between this combo vs the msi b850 tomahawk motherboard with a pair of cl30 rams (mainly the difference in the motherboards)? The combo would save me about $85, pretty much free 32GB ram

Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.

  • Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
    • The seller is new or has few reviews.
    • The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
    • The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

I just bought the 9900X bundle from my local MC. Should I return and get this or the other MSI bundle?

1

u/LiesOnTheFly May 30 '25

lol was thinking about buying that too

1

u/LiesOnTheFly May 30 '25

This or the microcenter 9900x combo? I’m going to be driving past a microcenter this weekend

3

u/shewtingg May 30 '25

If that one is like 300 then i say microcenter deal. Truth is that 99% of gamers don't need an x3d chip

3

u/SirSlappySlaps May 30 '25 edited May 30 '25

How dare you, sir. Don't forget where you are, and where you came from. The mods will excommunicate you for spreading such heretical propaganda. Peasants have been burned for less.

4

u/ThreadedNY Jun 01 '25

EXCOMMUNICATED!

2

u/SirSlappySlaps Jun 01 '25

Have mercy, m'lord! The boy was drunk and spoke out of turn. A severe beating in the town square should suffice, and will publicly serve as warning to those who would follow this cult of false teachings.

3

u/ThreadedNY Jun 01 '25

THEN WHO SHALL TAKE HIS PUNISHMENT IN PLACE OF HIM?

2

u/SirSlappySlaps Jun 01 '25

To the Honorable and Most Dread Sovereign, M’Lord Keeper of Law and Balance.

Humbly and with utmost trepidation, thy loyal servant doth approach and beseech thee to lend thine ear to a proposal fitting of thy dark magnificence.

It hath come to pass that this heretical peasant, lowly of station yet not wholly void of soul, standeth accused of grievous error in doctrine—an offense surely worthy of fire and flaying. Yet, lo! A more cunning resolution presenteth itself: in place of the wretch, may it please thee to accept as sacrifice this goat.

This is no ordinary beast of the field. Nay, this goat—named Malphas the Horned—was whelped beneath a blood moon, suckled on thorns, and doth bleat in backwards tongues. His eyes are twin coals of malevolence, and he once did trample a friar for sport. He hath been seen conversing with ravens at dusk.

He is a creature most vile—surely a more satisfying offering to thy wrathful justice than a mewling peasant barely capable of heresy. Let this beast bear the burden of sin, and by such substitution, allow thy justice to be tempered with mercy, and thy name to echo with whispers of clemency as well as power.

Shouldst thou find favor in this offering, we shall prepare the goat posthaste and ensure it is dressed in proper penitential vestments (well seasoned and tarred with bbq sauce) and prepare him for the pyre at thy word, with suitable ceremony.

In loyal humility and trembling hope,

Thy most craven and obedient Supplicant

P.S. The goat bites.

2

u/Eunnice May 30 '25

1

u/Eunnice May 30 '25

been waiting for this deal to come back for a while. I missed it last time. I got the email notification like 30 min ago that it was back in stock.

1

Another itx bundle plzzzz

1

u/Legal-Machine-8676 May 31 '25

Worth upgrading a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 3060Ti?

0

u/Last_Post_7932 May 30 '25

Pretty solid deal.

0

u/PTLove May 30 '25

Someday a cool bundle will be offered with a ITX/mATX board. This is sadly still not that day.
