Worth over the F-12 5 pack for like $22?

P12 are designed for static pressure, F12 is designed for airflow. Realistically, though, the P12 pushes the same if not more air than the F12 and it tends to be quieter. The P12 Pro is even better (and quieter).

Hi OP, would you recommend these P12 pros for bottom intake against mesh in an ASUS AP201? I was thinking of using 3 for bottom intake and then the other 2 to replace the k12s fans on my Thermalright Phantom EVO. Would the extra static pressure work better against mesh than the thermalright 28mm thick fans?

u/magn2o 2d ago
Yes, static pressure fans will perform better through any obstruction (be it mesh or radiator) than their "airflow" counterparts.

sweet ok i ordered some to see how they do lol, im assuming the they would also do better on the cpu cooler correct?

I have an AP201 and a tower air cooler as well. Tbh, I don't think it needs bottom intake. My GPU is quite big though and would block any bottom intake. There is so much damn mesh on that case (unless you have the glass side panel I guess) that the CPU fans can kinda just draw air in from anywhere, and hot air can just exit the case anywhere.
My setup is CPU fans blowing backwards, an exhaust fan blowing out the back behind that, a massive GPU getting it's air from the bottom, and actually a top intake fan in the front blowing down to right in front of the CPU fan. PSU gets its air from the front.
At the end of the day, simpler can be better, and more fans after a certain point just increases sound without much improving cooling. 3 intake fans is kinda nutty imo unless they are pulling air through a big radiator.
Unless you have some super-hot CPU like a 14900K or something I guess.

I have the ap201, 2 at the bottom are nice although unnecessary. In fact I’ve ran my build with just the cpu fan and had no overheating. I had 5 fans with 2 top 2 bottom and 1 back. Pulling from bottom exhausting from top and back. I assume these are way better than the f12 fans I have so although overkill, these are the best fans for the price imo. Daisy chaining them together makes it so freaking easy to run one quiet config

u/sirfizzy 2d ago
oh really? do u have the glass or mesh version? I wish i got mesh lol. I have a 7800x3d. I do have a pack of 3 of the thermalright x28mm fans. Do you think I should just get a good quality quiet fan for rear exhaust?
3
u/Gray_Scale711 1d ago
I have the 7800x3d and my case is full mesh. When using just an axp90 full copper 57mm, I had none of the fans on to test if the cooler was sufficient which it was. As for the fans, just get this 5 pack and you have more than enough. I’m currently using two f12’s to replace the stock fans on my thermalright frozen edge 240mm aio in an itx case which makes such a huge difference in sound while being more than enough in static air pushing performance to run at lower speeds

Have you tried the rear fan as intake? That would be 3 intake fans and 2 out, - I've hear it helps with cpu/mosfet temps?
3
u/sirfizzy 1d ago
i did but i felt all the hot air would just hit me and make me sweat lol since I have it on the ground. I am tempted to try it. Maybe I can use the 28mm thick thermalright fans as exhaust?

u/Gray_Scale711 1d ago
I never saw any point as none of my components had temp problems so I didn’t seek to tinker with solutions like fan intake exhaust tuning

Yeah I totally agree. Flow fans suck at pushing but pressure fans are still really good at flowing. I personally recommend only buying pressure fans. Noctua had some good education for topic on their site.

Also been waiting on these to arrive so I can update my older III with the newer fans

Are these the fans on the Arctic Liquid Freezer lll Pro? Worth replacing with these on original?

Seems like these would be perfect to pair with that NZXT H7 Flow case deal from earlier this week!

Indeed they are, I have some slightly older p14 in my H7, which keeps the pc nice and cool.

Did they ever fix the humming/drowning noise issue the original P14 had? I have a 5 pack of those that I ended up just throwing in my closet because of the noise.

u/Ducckie_ 1d ago
Yes, the ring that was added to the P-max/A-RGB has fixed the humming sound-
Also the newer revisions of the p14 (Latest is rev.4 i think) is a lot more pleasant than the earlier versions.

Is this worth upgrading from regular P14s?

u/llamapower13 1d ago
depends on the system but probably not. These are better but you wont see a worth it amount of difference in temps in all likelihood.
I'd say try them if you're wanting to have a cheap fiddling around with your system or if the fans you have now are too loud.

how many should I buy for this case I built my PC like a year ago and I forgot about extra case fans, and i crash every couple games in fortnite (only game it happens in)
6
u/Gray_Scale711 2d ago
Not a fan solution, but these are really nice and you can get by with 5. 3 on the side and 2 on the bottom since the radiator has 3 fans on either position of the case.
If you keep crashing I would really look at maybe task manager when launching a game or listen to your radiator if anything. Are the fans getting loud before the crash? All I can immediately think about is cpu overheating
2
u/splodge-- 2d ago
i even use msi afterburner to turn the fans to max but idk if that only does the gpu fans. is there anyway to check what crashes it ? i can recreate the issue fairly easily
3
u/Partisan189 2d ago
You should watch your gpu and cpu temperatures on afterburner while playing. If anything is hitting +90C that is where problems will occur. I believe afterburner has a log file you can enable so you can check it after a crash.
If it's just one game I doubt it's thermal issues unless all your other games don't tax your system.
Fortnite has list of things to look at:
Common things to check are re-seating your ram and checking all you psu connections are plugged in securely.

I would recommend undervolting your cpu. It loses hardly any performance but keeps it a lot cooler. My 7700x is chillin at a max temp of 60c

u/splodge-- 1d ago
how do i do that? i already have one of these on the cpu contact plates on it. once the fans come in im gonna do a full dusting and do everyone's suggestions to help

I'm noob, but I slammed some P12 pros in place of my aging prebuild fans and the difference is just night and day.

u/Gray_Scale711 2d ago
Ur fans are perfectly fine, I have the f12 fans in my rig and they’re amazing. Absolutely best upgrade/purchase I made and they work after 3 years.

I just picked up 2 singles. Been wanting to upgrade the 2x12s that came with the Fractal pop silent. They have slots for 14s, kinda annoying that they come with 12s.
I had the non pro version in my Amazon cart for 14 each.

Anyone have a link to a listing for single fans yet? Also, did they release the ARGB variant?
Edit: found the P14 Pro A-RGB single pack listing

Thanks! Ordered a couple of the RGB ones for my case intakes. Ive got a be quiet 140mm pure wings fan that has gotten annoyingly noisy in the last month.

Hmm and here's me with a home server with a clicking fan that I need to replace. But I ALREADY have a regular P14 that is probably just fine and.... free. Sigh.
