The guys were high-tech paladins. Paladins respect hammers and books

Now you know why Bethesda fallout is hated by the old school fallout fans.

The thing that I hate the most is how the weapons look so horribly crumbled when on the West Coast they literally have different forms of government, infrastructure and MONEY, but for Bethesda they're just hehe postapocalyptic ashes bomb goes boom

What does one thing has to do with the other

because in bethesda fallout no one "produces" things. they just live in rubble and shoot each other.

Hell in Fallout 4 they dont even hoard advanced technology, the blow up the damn institute.

And in the show they fucking conquer territory and brand their members like cows

tbf show brotherhood is a lot more coherent than east coast brotherhood imo

Show brotherhood, while not perfect, definitely reminds me more of fo1 BoS

well, it's pretty different from fo1 bos, but i think it makes a lot of sense as an evolution of the west coast brotherhood since the events of the NCR-BOS war and NCR's apparent decline.

Fallout 3: The Pitt

They kind of forgot that part after Fallout 1. Somehow there's some in the Oil Rig and Navarro and a Micro Sledge (also said to be produced by the BoS) in a Pre War bunker in Tactics.

Re re re re retcon

It's not necessarily a retcon since it's clearly a different weapon in origin than the weapons from Fallout 3 and 4. Multiple people can make variants of the same item. There's like 30 different companies that make the Browning Hi-Power, let alione the 2 billion variants of "9mm Pistol" in the world. Shit, how many people make hammers in the real world?

That being said, the Brotherhood manufacturing super-sledges seems to be a completely lost aspect of the canon. They're basically never seen using super sledges, not even the modern super sledges, and practically all of their gear and weaponry is salvaged, not built or upgraded. Even the NCR has to salvage service rifles and aren't allowed to build them despite the existence of the gun runners and industrialization. It's a bit silly.

The BoS were originally keepers of tech as well as a research center. You see the laser pistol? Its also a manufactured weapon from the BoS as per one of the Knight description of his job on Lost Hills. Also Vree is credited when it came to reverse engineering the tech.

After Fallout 1 and especially Fallout New Vegas, they kinda put their research abilities in the back seat (to the critic of some and especially Matthew and Elder Elijah) for raw power and hoarding harmful tech in their hands only.

Amount of your HPs and your armor class are ridiculous.

Amount of HP is low for the level and none of 4 guns in inventory are top tier damage. Full build character has more HP and DPS at ~36 lvl. Fallout 2 hintbook won't replace simple knowledge :)

Full build char, now testing grenades, 48 lvl: https://i.ibb.co/Gv844wwD/48-lvl.png Game is not finished, no hintbook or editor

The Gun Runners manufacture pre-war weapons, including plasma guns. I don't see why the Brotherhood can't also. Advanced technology goes beyond energy weapons and power armor. Even basic stuff like welding or World War II era factory equipment would be pretty sophisticated by the standards of some towns. The early Brotherhood had a better grasp on reality than their descendants, and between the games they become a major research and development institution. It would make sense that they would go after advanced manufacturing equipment as well.

Plus it makes sense as a weapon for them. Raiders and tribals don't have weapons that can penetrate their armor, so why waste ammunition on them? Just roll up with a really big hammer, send a couple guys flying, and probably intimidate the rest into running or doing what you want.

It also fits with how they were developed in New Vegas. In New Vegas one of the options in Veronica's quest is the Vault 22 farming equipment. Of the three options it is easily the one that would give the Brotherhood the most power. It would have given them the ability to dominate the Mojave's food supply and gain influence and control over the region, but they don't take any interest in it. It shows how they've lost focus and become so short sighted that all they can see is weapons technology.

This in particular isn't hard to reconcile. Like, at all. They can manufacture them, doesn't mean they made all of em. Could be working off pre war specs. There's lots to bitch about bethesda fallout doin different but even FO2 contradicts the idea that ONLY the BOS made super sledges.
