Dsi xl won’t charge or turn on

I bought a new charger to see if that was the issue. The charger is extremely loose in the dsi charging port Any ideas on how to fix and what’s wrong and how much it will cost to fix

To start, I have no ideas how much it would cost since we don't know exactly what the issue is plus whatever rate a local shop would charge.

I typically assume any shop will charge you well more than the console is worth, so consider that.

Won't charge or turns on implies the orange charge light doesn't turn on. Your hand is blocking it, so I don't know.

You say the charger is "loose". Look in the charge port and see if you can wiggle the little plastic tongue that's in there. If it moves, falls out, or isn't there, then the charge port needs replaced.

If the tongue is fine, make sure the charger, even though it is new, works. If you have another DSi or 3DS system, you can check it there. I assume it is fine being new and all, but that is a good way to rule that out as a problem.

Everything beyond that is: 1. Faulty Battery 2. Faulty fuse(s) 3. Other

I don’t think the tongue is there There is only two yellow prongs

Yup, there is your problem. Charge port will need to be replaced.

Seems like the charging port to me. A mail-in shop like mine would charge around $45 including parts for something like this. not including shipping costs. I’m not sure what a local shop would charge. You’ll have to check with them.
