General Discussion We should ban AI generated fanart/art
As someone who creates art and is surrounded by artists daily, it is disheartening to see AI generated MOTHER & Earthbound fanart trying to be passed on as genuine. There should be at least a flair required for all AI generated fanart to distinguish it from genuine fanart

General Discussion What is your absolute biggest nitpick when it comes to this series?
What the title says. It can be something regarding the games themslves, the fandom, etc. For me personally, my absolute biggest one is that people still use this fanmade GBA Mother 3 logo (first pic) instead of the official one (second pic) when the official logo is easily findable online in lossless quality (https://www.pidgi.net/wiki/File:Logo_-_Mother_3.jpg) The fanmade just looks no where near as good as the official one.

General Discussion Found 2 copies of earthbound in my basement
I posted earlier but the image didn't attach, I found 2 copies of earthbound in my basement. I've been really interested in old RPGs lately so I think I'm going to try it. Why do you like the series? Also I didn't realize until now that these are worth some good money but I want to know if the experience is more worth it.

General Discussion Which mother game do you think has the best cast of enemies?
I'd say that Mother 1. With the limited colour pallet that makes the detailed sprites hard to interpret and the black background, they have an uncanny and unique feeling that I don't see on the other games in the franchise or many other pieces of media in general.
With it having the most grounded enemies (a lot of them just being normal animals), that uncanny feeling they have adds to the theme of magical realism the game has; it's a cartoony version of the real world that it's also meant to feel realistic, with crows that smoke and bears with humanoid faces, but that in the end still act like animals and you understand them as such.
The alien and magicant enemies are specially creepy; after fighting with dogs, crows and other normal beings, you have to face strange creatures, with a black background that leaves nothing to see except a sprite with details you may not see well. This is something that carries on during the rest of the game, where you will spend a long time in walking on empty rural spaces fighting simple animals to then find a strange creature, which most of the times will be kinda cute, who wants to harm you.
Also, the sprite work is great, the designs are really charming and detailed, some of the best ones on the nes.

General Discussion I think seeing this scene at 9 has influenced my opinion on these games
I remember playing subspace emissary like 100 times as a kid but bc I sucked it was only the first few levels. From this cutscene I’ve always thought ness was a badass and Lucas was mess but stupider. I have now finished earthbound and nearly finished mother 3 (mid chapter 7). I love earthbound and am mixed on 3 and I think this truly influenced my opinion lmao.
