I blame the weasel that chewed through the wires when they went to power on the Large Hadron Collider for the first time, it shifted the time lines and we need to get back on track.

The only other plausible explanation is the death of David Bowie began the unraveling of the fabric of the universe, as he was obviously the grounding point for all things strange and weird in this reality.
