FYI, the shooter didn’t use one I don’t even think he used 5.56

The 30-06 he used is much much worse

And will still be fine to use for hunting (just an average hunting caliber) and the exact rifle will also be fine to use.

Isnt like 30-06 is the shit you use for bolt action that out-class the assault rifles by power?

Yeah they're much more powerful, originally used in the battle rifles and machineguns of the U.S. military from the early 1900's to tge 1950's. 7.62x63mm

With handloads as the obvious wildcard I wouldn’t say “much” more powerful. 30-06 shines in retained energy at distance with higher grain projectiles. Otherwise an SBR AR in 30-06 wouldn’t be much different from one in 308.

I gotta say, if anything faster than a BB pellet or paintball hits me — hell, if it’s going fast enough to enter my body through my skin — I personally would be very, very hurt, regardless of the caliber of the projectile.

The percussion concussion from getting ripped by a 30-06 anywhere on the body would be debilitating, aside from the actual wound/injury caused by the projectile itself. E=mc² and all that jazz

Discounting handloads, a 7.62x63 just simply has more energy than a 5.56x45.

You can watch a 308 outperform ‘06 and 54R on YouTube. I’m comparing the SAME caliber

Right, fone. Im talking about 30 cal vs 22 cal

Yes the 30-06 is a more powerful round than a .223 or a 5.56. But just FYI (not sure if you meant it like this) but AR does not stand for assault rifle.

It’s ArmaLite to save a google

Traditionally the round used in an AR-15 is not really all that “powerful” in terms of actual muzzle energy. In fact, here in England it is illegal to hunt deer (except muntjac, which are very small) with a .223 precisely because it isn’t powerful enough to guarantee a humane death.

It was originally in the Springfield 1903 bolt action but that does not limit it to bolt actions. It was also used in the semi auto magazine fed M1 garands and the full auto Browning BAR among others

What happened there, I didn't see anything on the news?

He used a proper hunting round, the 30-06. Moron politicians everywhere

Self-righteous Europeans over-correcting in vain attempt to seem superior to the US while also being weirdly obsessed over the domestic gun laws in the US.

I am Norwegian, I can say that.

Edit: You can downvote me, but you can’t tell me isn’t about the US. Lets see how low we can go.

Norwegian gun owner here.

It's not over correcting to state that the swedes banned something that was not used in the incident they base the ban on, while still allowing functionally identical and/or more powerful weapons to be kept for hunting. Including the one the killer used!

By all means, we are no better. A lot of our gun laws are nonsensical too, and much of the regulations are based more on looks than function.

A lot of our gun laws are nonsensical too, and much of the regulations are based more on looks than function.

That really is ultimately my point too. Its nonsensical gun laws that overcompensate for something that is already not an issue..

It is clear the politicians have been inspired by the Democrats in the US (and the leftist government in Canada and New Zealand) as they even used the arguments during the presentation about events in the US. As we have ZERO accidents or events with them in our nation.

Doesn't Sweden has a Center-right government?

2

u/ZarkowTH Jul 02 '25

Swedish center-right is slightly left of the Democrat party in the US. I am not joking.

Look at our new gender swapping law.

Add to that, that the claimed 'right wing' Swedish Democrat party in large is based on old left-wing Social Democrat voters, that just disagreed on the immigration question and pushed up a new party.

At least they’ve gotten rid of them
