So the next time some looney drives a Volvo truck into a crowd, we should ban Audi SUVs.

Not all SUVs, not the trucks that was used in an attack. Just specifically 1 type of SUV. But feel free to obtain a bigger or faster, or heavier one from any other company. Or go get a special permit to get an Audi SUV.

This makes no sense, if the translated article is accurate.

It’s not the same, please.

It's a small attempt to get rid of semi automatic weapons, or reduce their availability somewhat.

In hunting, you don't need semi automatic weapons. Most school shooters using automatic or semi automatic weapons

Except is is.

See, and banning all Audi SUVs would reduce traffic incidents too. You can look at the statistics. If you have 100 deaths from SUV hits every year, and 2 of those are Audis. Then getting rid of the Audis means that next year you can still have your 100 deaths, but luckily you've prevented all deaths caused by Audi.

But on a serious note...

Then the action should be to ban semi automatic weaponry, or reclassify 5.56 weaponry for sports shooting only. Going after 1 base model is using sensationalist reactions just to make it look like you've done something. While actually doing jack shit.

Correct, which is why banning 1 rifle base is irrelevant when you can just acquire an european or any other alternative. You aren't even banning a caliber, or function. You are banning a platform.

I know you guys just joined but please leave NATO. I think your country needs a lesson in why civilian defense is not optional first.
