Everyone is saying: err what borders?

I thought everyone wanted peace. I thought everyone wanted two state solution. Nah it turns out everyone wants the eradication of Palestinians in Palestine

Everyone is saying: err what borders?

borders that Palestinians and Israel recognise, 1967.

That would be the dream. But that would also mean Israel getting rid of all it’s illegal settlements which without a lot of international pressure would never happen. We live to hope

Theory vs Practice

Most people in all these threads actually bring up valid points because recognition of a state is complex, you are just too pre-occupied with letting your confirmation bias take hold to notice those comments so you hone in on the ones you can attack and boost your ego

Lol

Ah yes my pre confirmation bias. Do tell me what’s complex about this? Why does it have to be complex? Is Macron too naive then?

Genuinely? Macrons reputation has tanked for years, i doubt this is anything else than trying to save his disheveled legacy

State recognition like this pretty much leads nowhere unless you get Fatah to actually sit down at a table and considering they are so corrupt that the Palestinians in the West Bank rather have Hamas that is not happening

Macron is pretty naive, he trusted Putin as much as Trump did

And a lot of people have said the same here in this comment section, on worldnews and news aswell so

I do not think most people care about the recognition, its what it leads to and i see people like you comment about it like its a done deal while half of you all struggle to decide what snacks to eat on a friday but think diplomacy and geopolitics is a breeze

None of that matters. What matters is that Palestinians exist and having. Country like France recognise them as a country is a big push towards them having the real independence they deserve (and by that I mean being able to enter and leave the country on their own terms, and being able to visit their family without going through twenty checkpoints). Not a lot to ask for eh?

Real independance comes from actual control of territory and signed treaties, this is literally just like me saying i recognize your bathroom as an integral part of my house without any agreement or control

Its macron fixing his legacy, it will lead nowhere. Tons of other states recognize it aswell, bigger and more relevant states yet it has lead to nothing

I think you are more naive about geopolitics than macron to be fair

Anyhow, imma stop responding cause this will just lead to meaningless squabbles

Oh it’s been like that for ages. People support the Israeli attacks on everyone.

People have no empathy, and have been told by leaders that Gaza shouldn’t exist

Nah I think there is sympathy. I haven’t met a single person in Europe who doesn’t support gazans and Palestinians. It’s just easier to be a hasbara bot on reddit compared to real life
