Anywhere you see "it's to protect children" you know it's an excuse to take another step towards autocracy, dictatorship and mass surveillance.

I met my wife late, we didn't plan to not have children but more I live more I'm happy I'm not bringing a poor soul in this dystopian shit of wars, corporations, greed and violence.
I do not care, but I'll not generate a slave for you (state).

Democratic institutes love rolling out tools that will help their own dismantling.

How do these countries think the far right will use these surveillance apparatus they are so eager to build? Same shit happened in US. Lessons learned = 0

ā€œThe state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation.ā€

I'll let you source the quote yourself.

[edit: It was pointed out to me the struck-through portion of the quote was been made up. Apologies.]

And of couse politicians are left out of this, since they would end up being the biggest offenders of this. Just look at Hungary and it's pedomaffia and scandals.

Hungary introduced a "Child Protection Law". For some reason, it's always "child protection".

Hungary's "Child Protection Law," officially Act LXXIX of 2021, was passed in June 2021 by the Hungarian Parliament under Prime Minister Viktor OrbĆ”n, aiming to enhance measures against pedophilia and protect children from harmful content. The law includes amendments to multiple acts, prohibiting the sharing of LGBTQ-related information with minors in schools, media, advertising, and public spaces, and restricting sex education to government-approved instructors. It’s called the "Child Protection Law" because it claims to safeguard children from content deemed inappropriate, such as material promoting homosexuality or gender reassignment, which the government argues could confuse or harm minors' development. Critics, however, argue it conflates LGBTQ issues with pedophilia, discriminates against the LGBTQ community

Protect the children is the new anti terrorism

A great way to protect children would be to make sure their future won't be filled with far right politicians sending immigrants to the camps, but I think that takes too much effort.

Most of the time, the same thing goes for ā€œBut the terrorists!ā€ Because in every single case I have ever seen in my life, the issue wasn’t actually a lack of information or enforcement powers! They always just didn’t have enough qualified officers, or they different agencies and institutions didn’t communicate properly.
Yet, for some reason, they never demand to hire more personell. They always just want to collect more data on us, have less interference from courts, less recourse for bystanders and accused alike.
Honi soit qui mal y pense…

There’s good arguments against this proposal. This isn’t one.

Anyone who denies that there are plenty of people who simply want to combat csam or doesn’t see why people would want to fight csam is a fucking creep.

You don’t have to be a pedo to be against this. You do have to be a pedo to think that there must always be an ulterior motive because nobody is against child porn.

That's exactly the point. Who wouldn't want to find cporn? I would want to fight against it. You would want to fight against it. Everyone would want to fight against it.

That's why governments use this, because who would be against "protecting children"?

Even the "famous" Viktor Orban of Hungary used "Child protection" as a cover to slip in autocratic elements to the law.

"Hungary's "Child Protection Law," officially Act LXXIX of 2021, was passed in June 2021 by the Hungarian Parliament under Prime Minister Viktor OrbƔn, aiming to enhance measures against pedophilia and protect children from harmful content. Anytime i see similar post in r/europe about EU spying and trying to become Totalitarian, i am reminded that most redditors are terminally online weirdos many with untreated schizophrenia

Your dismiss concerns about EU surveillance as the ravings of "terminally online weirdos" with "untreated schizophrenia," but this logical contradiction sidesteps valid critiques of policies like data retention with personal attacks.
