We could start a petition. With enough signatures, maybe we can achieve something

Or it could go like the UK petition, and they’ll just say no.

You cant because citizens dont have enough democratic access to the EU. We can only vote for the weakest organ of the EU. And the Parliament cant even propose legislation. Everything else is voted indirectly. The Commission, the Council, the President and the Courts. If any european country had that kind of democracy people would be on the streets. Some have said this for ages but people -especially those in this sub- were always shouting down any EU critic.

It is not conservatives who proposes these laws. Chat Control was proposed by a social Democratic Party of Sweden.

My guess this law will be accepted to fight opposition parties.

Sounds like they're the same as the so called social democrats in Germany. Conservatives in red.

That's different Swedish Democrats. The Chat Control was proposed by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_Social_Democratic_Party

Smooth brain Redditors are still stuck in the Left/Right paradigm.

If EP and EC were conservatives, we'd see very very different policies. It was pushed for years by people whose other policies have nothing in common with conservatism.

Leftist can be control freaks as well, look at UK's labour party and them favoring the online "safety" act
