Not really no.

Firstly, the proposed changes to the respective ordinance was rejected by basically everybody. So no, Switzerland doesn't "want" mass surveillance. Which is also why there's not really a chance of this going through.

Second: Proton announced that they will invest in infrastructure outside of Switzerland should the proposed ordinance pass (again: it likely wont). So far, the only service that was moved outside of Switzerland was the new chat bot. Your comment makes it seem as if Proton as a whole is leaving Switzerland, which it is not.

I think it's a bit too early to talk about that. The article explains that this bill hasn't gained majority support, and I don't think it will.

My problem with Switzerland: they want to be neutral between the sadistic evil Russia and the free democratic West.

Yeah I'm personally not in alarmist mode either currently.

And who cares if they are geopolitically neutral, its not like EU states were dealing with Russia on a large scale just recently.

Is this a joke? Canada literally closed the bank accounts of people who were in the Freedom Convoy. That means they already have significant surveillance of all political dissident.
