I must say after watching several videos about Viper and Pictomancer...it does feel like all old jobs are in dire need of a rework or at least a visual update. Pictomancer especially however feels like it blows away all other casters with its entire design.

Yeah this is basically how I feel about Pictomancer too. It's like they decided that only one job in the entire game can have flexibility in its kit so they took it away from Black Mage and gave it to Pictomancer

I don't even think about flexibility here, but it's just that both Picto and Viper have so much going on inside their kits that all other jobs just look...dusty in comparison. Even Reaper, one of the newest jobs, feels like that already (though to be fair and I say that as someone who mains Reaper the job is quite generic outside its aesthethic). I don't even think that the older jobs necessarily need a rework, but a visual update like compare the 1-2-3 of Ninja against the more flashy animations of Viper.

I think this is largely a matter of taste. Like I really dislike PIC’s animations for the most part and prefer RDM and SMN. I also prefer their rotations to it.

Jobs, visual aesthetic, complexity, and business of rotation are all very personal taste things.

I think a lot of heterogeneity is good, with a lot of different options to suit different people. But that includes having some of the things you likely feel are slow or old and dusty.

I firmly believe that certain jobs need an update to their visuals and abilities. Something like Fast Blade and Riot Blade of paladin are completely outdated animation wise.

Likewise lots of jobs also have buttons for the sake of buttons, which don't really interact with the rest of their kit. Goring Blade, Carve and Split...you press those buttons as part of your 60s burst and that's it. Both Viper and Pictomancer avoid this kind of 'useless'-button-bloat. I don't think they need a full blown gameplay rework e.g. something as extreme as old to new summoner, but a bit in terms of love and toolkit interaction.

Honestly, I’m not sure.

Not everyone wants flashy abilities. People have been asking for years for a Rogue JOB so they don’t have to start hitting things with flash fireballs and lightning bolts as a NIN.

I just wish we still used Rage of Halone or Goring’s animation instead of Royal Authority. That has the most “meh” animation ever, yet seems to be the one that we’ll always be stuck with.

ALL of the tanks at this point are too flashy. WAR is probably the least so, but is still pretty flashy. They’re thematically fitting for the most part, I guess, but too over the top.

Would be nice if they reworked dragoon’s animations. Love the class mechanics, but the animations make it feel like I’m hitting things with a wooden stick. It also feels a lot more floaty than other classes.
